No word on that ...but i imagine not...they have spoken to them ...from what i hear they are still in the cage that they were both working in ...it seems that cage may have saved their life

They're saying on Ch Ed that they found em via camera. If this is one of those worm-like cameras you'd think they could get some food and water down there.

Also saying on Ch Ed that there's a chance they might get them out tonight, but of course this could just be the usual Ch Ed propogandistic bull:D:D:D:De!

Excellent they are alive, reminds me of Stuart Diver.

yeah it's almost unbelievable that they survived not just the rock fall ..but also survived the 5 days

LOL at Mike Monroe trying to choreagraph the final outcome " it would be great if we could capture on film the two miners walkiung from the mine to greet the hundreds of townsfolk here waiting for them "

He was making me sick.

The reporter had just said that there is a chance theyt might get them out in an hour or 2, but also said this may not happen and it might still be a day or 2.

Then Mike Moore comes out and says "So does it look like they might be able to get them out tonight?"

I mean seriously, was he even listening?

I wouldnt be suprised if he came out and lead a gaggle of D grade celebrities sending their love down the mine.

Considering they have no food or water and could still be trapped for another day or so, I would not be celebrating until they are actually out.

Both are in good condition..and apart from being very thirsty and hungry they appear to be uninjured ...which is extrordinary ! ....general consensus is that they won't be out until tomorrow sometime .:)

Yeah great news. It's been a pretty dismal month or so down here, huh?
First the death of 5 young women in a car smash, the drowning of three fisherman, the Port Arthur anniversary and then the miners. Finally some good news.:)

good news for all concerned, but I am still scratching my head as to how you could actually go and watch a footy match, in the midst of such angst.
Interesting talking point last night, that threw up a few way out theories, when the "news break" came across, declaring them alive and well.
Dont get me wrong, its fantastic for all concerned, but knowing how the media operate, manipulating people, who are pretty much on the edge of their nerves, especially C9, i wouldnt discount anything from them. ;)

They are attempting to get food and water to them ..so lets hope that is successful , as it looks like they won't reach them for at least another 48 hours . These two blokes will be mentally scarred after this ordeal so they will need plenty of medical and psychological treatment after they do eventually get out of that cage

its amazing what people can do when we pull together :)

it sad to say we probalby need some overwhelming catastrophe looming to get together and unite for a common cause.

Yes we were due some good news stories

Makes you realise how trivial the whole Saints/Freo debacle is, when just down the road this has happened. Fantastic news.

Plus three people being taken out by a Targa car with months recovering in hospital.

It looks like the rescue process isn't as clear cut as first thought....they will start drilling again in the morning ...and it could take 3 days or more to finally get Todd and Brant out , this is because of the unstability of the rocks....but they now are getting food and water and are in fine spirits ...Todd has already stated he wants to be paid overtime ...and living away from home allowance ...he has also asked for Saturdays paper ...because he wants to look for another job ...so they at least haven't lost their sense of humour ...which is a good thing for their mental well being :)

There is a really nice human interest story in this too.

Todd Russell has a dog, a labrador named Harley. Harley loves Todd and since ANZAC Day, when the accident happened, Harley has been sitting at the gates of the mine waiting for Todd.

But some morons from the media have been shooing the dog away.
Todd's family have now taken Harley away and kept him at home.

Now that the media have discovered that the dog belongs to Todd, and is keeping a vigil for him, they are only too happy to photograph Harley and his long and loyal wait outside the mine gates. And justle for any story they can get on the reunion between him and Todd.

Makes you wonder just what makes journos tick!

Dave Grohl has also stated that he wants to catch up with the trapped miners and have a beer with them after they said they would like Foo Fighters loaded on their iPod.

Thats pretty awesome!

Bit reminiscient of Frontline as the journos set up camp expecting the miners to be rescued quickly but as things didn't go to plan they are stuck there running short of things to report and getting pretty twitchy.

Thank you, Channel Nine, for that wonderful non-update that just interrupted the football. Good to see that not only did they precede the press conference with 5 minutes of Mike Munro spreading unconfirmed rumours about what would be stated, but he then repeated the rumours after the damn conference was finished in an effort to look slightly accurate...

Miners are still trapped as the rock is unpenertratable. Will they ever get them out? If not, would they have to keep feeding them or what?? :D:D:D:De

They are finally out !!! what a relief for the whole community of Northern Tasmania and particuarly Beaconsfield :)

Now the sombre process of laying to rest their fellow worker ...what a gamut of emotions these blokes will go through today

RIP Larry Knight

Typical bloody journos.

I was just wonbdering if there is another thread on the trapped miners. I know there is a seperate Bill Shorten or whatever his name is and one for Richard Carleton but I would of thought there would of been more discussion about this.

It is a pretty big story.
