I would have liked to see White moved onto Biclavs when he was playing out of the square/around the ground. Could have curbed some of his early impact.

Absolutely the opposite Maggie. The more he practices, the less he has to think about it. It will be muscle memory. Even at this late stage of his career - 1 month of enforced change turns into a habit.

He's got a great tank, he's one of the beasts of the league and has enough footy nous to know what to do.

Just stop him 1 hour through training and get him lining up 10-15-20-30-40m out at 5, 15, 30, 45, 60 degree angles and keep potting them just as you would with basketball training.

It's only his set shot kicking that's an issue, he's got a great snap and an even better bomb but his set shot is terrible.

But I read/heard that he doesn't have a problem kicking them during training, surely by now muscle memory is there.
I also thought that he has been practicing his goal kicking, can't remember who with though.

I know that sometimes it helps just getting away from it and not having uppermost in the head.

AGREE - And I reckon Chris scott may have shown us a new position for White, assuming he has Biclav' tank.
And most importantly its a position that doesn't require much thinking for White; its just - see ball get ball - too easy.

At minimum it will ensure he has an influence on the game which may help his confidence when playing forward.

Cloke just needs to play to his range. If he spends most of his time outside the F50 then he'll do a lot better.

I can see that working, he's big and quick enough and at worst he can get in the way of their mids. It really rattled our rucks and mids. I did only see the first quarter though.

Is this the danger of placing blokes on massive contracts? They have their payday. There is no urgency to Cloke's game. I'm not prone to flights of fancy but I would seriously think about placing him in the reserves, just so he can kick a bag and feel confident again.

I think the problem is that neither is a natural full forward. Cloke's best footy by far is played 70% outside 50 and 30% inside 50. He has never been consistently good deeper, with the occasional exception . White is a fringy flanker trapped inside a kpp body. He is NOT a key position player. His best footy has been as a 3rd tall forward or even on the wing or roaming ruck. His understanding of structure and how to play / compete within the corridor is poor. He could be a real handful if we had that pure full forward, but we don't. This must be a priority in next years draft/trade period.

Maybe he should try the flat punt/torp a la Twiggy Dunne?

Thankyou, thankyou thankyou......why can't anyone else see the value of this? Anywhere inside 30m of goal Clokey should just kick a flat punt....its an ugly kick but its so easy to kick straight. Drop punts have to hit just the right spots on the ball and the boot to stay straight in the first 20-30m of their flight. Clokey needs two or three kicks in his kit bag. He's fine from 50+ because his drop punts can "get back to the centre" over that distance.....much like a golfer that slices. In close he doesn't have the opportunity to "get his kick back to the centre"

I've suggested the flat punt idea on here before....its an easy kick to learn and it works.....Peter Hudson kicked a squillion goals with it!

Cloke is FAR off an elite forward imo.

How would you judge one?
Seriously....a super strong contested marking forward, premiership player and an endurance athlete to boot, he's the type of player opposition clubs would build a forward line around. Ross Lyon tried twice to get Clokey, Bomber Thompson tried whilst he was at Geelong and Essendon, Clarkson also had a look when Tippett was being sharked around.....obviously these gun coaches don't have any idea about the types of players necessary to make up a successful club.
If Cloke was placed on the open market....17 other clubs would try to get him.

Simply not up to it. Buckley can defend him all he likes but he's not up to it. Robbo was right to ask the question of him and Buckley sticks up for him. Jesse White is crap.

The whipping boy... While certainly not my favourite player, as far as 2nd or 3rd forwards go his numbers probably stack up alright(apart from tackles which he seems afraid of)

He was never going to be a superstar or even a quality forward, hence why we paid peanuts for him. It's not like our cup runneth over when it comes to KPF's, yet to be convinced Gault is anything more than a solid VFL player.

Would like to see Moore developed as a forward and take Jesse's spot though.

It is all between the ears. Good talent, great athlete but either lacks confidence or courage. Played some good games for us in 2013 and I was genunally upset we let him go. Thought he would step up for you guys but just did not happen. Bit sad really.

Haters going to hate. I'd like to stick with him. Everyone expects miracle cures and instant results in footy. Just back him in and get around him. Give him the whole season before rubbing him out.

Yep. We would get a much better result with Mason Cox playing up forward :/

Better player than Witts.

wouldn't mind cloke being traded, would get at least a 1st rounder for him. And would be interesting to see if he started kicking straight under a different regime.

yeah but you leave J White as our #1 kpf so that trade wont happen thank goodness.
