How about we actually buy someone decent for once. Cameron was meant to be the man. He would've been my first choice.

my sources tell me that it's in his current contract that he wont be traded to a team that is coached by bucks.

It has been suggested on this thread that Cloke use a flat punt or a Gaelic football kick around the corner when close enough. In golf players with the yips often resort to the broomstick putter. It's within the rules and if it works, why not? Stephen Milne did it. Stevie J does it. My suggestion would be for Cloke to line up facing the left forward pocket. Take one step and roll the ball 90 degrees off the boot straight through the big ones. He will get 9 out of 10. The mids that have fed him will be heading back to the centre before he kicks it. He'll earn his 800k plus and he'll sleep easier at night. We'll return to feeling it's a certainty at 10 to 20 metres out. Yay!

I really wonder what goes through Trav's head when he is close to Goal.... It's like the weight of the world is on his shoulders you just have to look at him when he is lining up thinking OH NO I hope I kick this!!! Funny thing is I am thinking OH I Hope he kicks this...

A fun game all the family can play: (serious)

When you're watching the footy on TV ...

... and Cloke takes a set shot, and there is a good camera angle taken from behind him ...

... try to guess where the ball is going to go just before he kicks it. Shout out "left", "right" or "straight". Turn it into a drinking game if you're that way inclined.

Personally I find that when you watch his set shot process carefully, and try to figure out before he kicks it where the ball is going to go, you tend to be able to pick it quite reliably. It's a good party trick.

IMHO his problems are evident in his run-up, and not at the point at which he kicks the ball.

Is White an improvement on Dawes? I honestly don't know the answer, although I did have a soft spot for Dawsey that I'm not feelin' for White.

i have to say something about this goal kicking. I watched the 360 thing and comparisons were made with NBA basketball. Whateley made the point that comparisons HAVE to be made. Both coaches threw their 2 cents in, but to me, something was left unsaid. How can you compare throwing the ball into a hoop from a couple of metres with kicking goals?

Now I know Cloke is missing them from close in, but there must be millions of people who could throw a goal from the 3 point line. They might only make one shot in 30 but there will be a lot of people who will make that shot.....some of these people might never have thrown a ball into a hoop before. Compare that to kicking goals from 50 metres. I know Cloke was kicking from 20 metres but he can kick them from 60 metres. How many people can actually do that? It's a far more complicated skill. The ball has to be guided onto the foot and the timing has to be spot on. Compare that to throwing a ball...

I think we short change AFL footballers with the respect that is due to them for playing the game. The panel made no mention of the missing of free throws in NBA games when it gets towards the end of the game and the scores are tight. I've seen highly paid basketballers miss both shots. And how about those centres? Its ok to make comparisons with Lubron but how about the dorky centre guy who find it hard to throw a ball. How many shots does he make? And I wouldnt count those shots where he places them in the basket. How much actual skill is involved in that?

ok i've said it and i feel better

Bucks made a good point as well about fatigue.

How much lactic acid build up would be in a basketballers arms compared to a footy players legs when attempting shots on goal?

There's no comparison, and frankly, Bucks' lazy journalism quip should have been used again when that comparison was made.

Cloke is worse than he has ever been.....honestly who was shocked he missed that goal???
No, his goal kicking accuracy was much worse in 2010 - remember that year?

Google this for the facts rather than the presumptions based on a few bad kicks: "Forget about fixing Travis Cloke, let's just enjoy the ride"

I didn't do all the stats so yeah maybe he got 7 Nd yeah I'm not saying he's a dud. He had been ok tonight. We made choices in shaw though and look at Adams. We move on players.

Track is on HUGE money and he is good but will he be good enough in 3 years? AGAIN GUYS. Maybe Moore plays forward or we get a full forward this draft and track plays CHF in his twilight. I'm just bringing up the discussion.
Surely if you're going to base an argument on "he doesn't kick bags" then you'd check out that exact stat wouldn't you? Here's another example to jog your memory.
