Boak is after much longer contract than Port is currently offering him and the rumours about him wanting to leave surfaced awhile ago so i wouldn't be to cocky.

You're underrating Wood then. Which is fine by me because as Invigoration said, we need Wood for the next few years more than we need another good midfielder. We're finally in a position where we have a good mature ruck in his prime and a good young prospect, very tough to trade that sort of security away.

Wasn't deflecting. Source? Would be foolish to disclose, either way TRS can vouch for my updates on Ball (prior to him coming) & I said Boak was on the table about 3 weeks ago, long before the papers caught wind of it.

I know a player manager fairly well (a poster on the Carlton board can also vouch for that, he is a manager of a high profile player that moved clubs last year) but it is all early days with this. I'm still lukewarm on the merits of trading Wood as our ruck management is poor at Collingwood & he has a lot of upside in him.

Well I got info Pre-Draft about Ball to from you and it was Correct what you said so he does have some Priors to back him up

I agree it won't be Straight Forward for a Boak Trade - It would be 3-4 Team Trade I reckon IF it happens

Wood took a first round pick to get, and is worth a first round pick now. Wood + our first rounder seems about right given your ruck problems at the moment. If you add anything more to that you're getting close to the Judd deal (First round player + 2 first round picks) and Boak is no Judd.

Probably won't happen though, Wood is too valuable for our future, and our midfield doesn't need Boak even if he'd be a nice addition. In the end I think other clubs like Essendon would be far more desperate to get him than Collingwood.

All in all, that sounds equitable. Would be dependent on what our 1st pick is too in this comprimized draft.

I can't say I know a lot about Boak & this is b/c South/West Australian players don't receive the hype of their Victorian counterparts although I rate Robbie Gray very highly. Think he has more upside than Boak but you could set our midfield with years with Beams, Sidebottom, Pendlebury, Wellingham & Boak going forward.

It's not about Player X V Player Y in a trade. Just look at Kennedy (who hadn't shown a lot) going to WC for Judd. Ruckman are so valuable & even moreso at a club that is about to lose their number 1.

O'bree and Lockyer will probably be retiring at the end of the year so that should free up a fair bit of cap space.

Wood for Boak should be seriously looked at it was on the table. We have recruited Jolly since taking Wood and Jolly needs to spend a lot of match time in the ruck to work his impact on the match. Wood has shown glimpses but Boak will be a gun. We could get a ruckman if we tried hard enough but we won't have a draft pick likely to get a Boak class midfielder for some time.

People will think this odd coming from me but I'd rather have Fraser and Boak than Wood. I'd then set about unearthing a backup for Jolly and then a potential replacement.

If we win the flag this year, which of course we will p), you might be right. Generally speaking I think that would be overkill. But I also agree that Boak's value > Wood's value.

If Wood was set on leaving, and Boak was set on leaving, we should definitely do all we can to make it happen. Our next priority should be to draft a ruckman in the Jordan Roughead style; big (and tall, obviously) but carries the size well and knows where to run.

Off topic I realise but I couldn't help but bite. Autumn and Winter is when the good swells come through so it would have been right when he was stuck at school. It's why they hold Bells in April. Summer is when the surf really dies in the arse.

I don't know if many of our supporters have watched much of Boak but this kid has genuine superstar qualities. Displays mnay of these traits already.

If he was Victorian, you'd be hearing about him before Murphy, Gibbs, Cotchin etc.

As reluctant as I would be to trade away Wood, if it came down to Wood and 1st rounder (pick 20+ most likely) I'd do it in a second. As one the Port supporters said, sometimes you just take quality over needs basis. I think Woody can be very good for us and will take over the number one role in a few years, but Boak......man dat boy can play.

Obviously we'd need to search other team ranks a see if we could pick up a couple of young ruckman to support Jolly as Fraser looks just about spent. A Seaby or Mumford type preferrably. Risky move but worth the punt.

Fair enough then. Theoretically both parties should be happy with that, but I think Essendon would be far more desperate to get him, have a better pick and have a wealth of KP talent to offer so if he goes anywhere it'll be GC or there.

The thing is, if they had as good a midfield as they say they have, they wouldn't have needed to trade for Brick McLean and Kane Lucas.

Truth is, without Judd there midfield is no better then the majority of the competition.
