Travis Cloke will be a massive get for us, it would be nothing but a positive thing for us. I believe if we can get someone like Cloke, it will make other clubs and players look at us and we'd start to gain respect.

If we were to go for Dangerfield, we wonld have to give up a fair bit, I'm not willing to give up that much for Dangerfield just yet.

I love Dangerfield, and feel he has a huge amount of upside. But we have the potential to gain 3+ gun young midfielders in the next draft. Midfielders can have an immediate impact on the comp as players like Rich, Selwood, Coniglio, Swallow have proven in recent years. So a midfield can come together quickly. Throw in maybe another mature age rookie like Magner and we should be ok in this area. I'd definitely prefer Cloke to Danger. Cloke would compliment Clark and Watts wonderfully well. And the only thing it would cost us is lots of $$$, which we have. Danger will cost us about the same plus good draft picks to get the deal done....

Dangerfield would be a great get if he keeps his current form going. Cloke seems to be having a slow year, like a lot of Pies players, but I think he'd be more valuable. The draft can be a bit tricky, but I think our recruiters have done well recently, getting Magner, Taggert, Tynan, Couch. I trust that they'll find some good players in the draft.
We'll probably be paying overs for either of them, in terms of picks (Dangerfield) or $$$ (Cloke) and with other teams interested in both of them we'll have to up our bids a bit. That said, I think we could land one of them, probably Cloke, and he would be a great addition to our side. I know Clark has been brilliant as the lone KF, but I think giving him a bit of help, or rotating him and Cloke up the ground, could work out well.

Look I see what you are saying.

However with Dangerfield, you know what you are getting.

Draft picks, are an unknown

Realistically, Dangerfield will re-sign with Adelaide (as will Cloke with Collingwood no doubt)

Dangerfield has, to date in his career, been fairly inconsistent

This year, yes he's been very good

Lets see if that continues

The chance at 3 1st round picks in what's described as the best draft since 2001, I'd prefer to draft 3 potential future mids (may or may not include JV in round 1 so could be 4), and have another monster KPF

We are so far away from finals, it's not funny

Selling the farm for Dangerfield (he will cost us 2 x 1st round picks) for what?

He is not the difference between us being woeful and being a contender

3 (maybe 4) future midfield guns and Cloke is....long term

We had 3 top 10 picks in the last superdraft 2008. That has done us well so far.

The one thing I don't agree with is how Cloke is good long term, but you don't think dangerfield will be. Cloke hasn't done much this year, maybe he has peaked. I guess we will find out!

Cloke + 3 potential gun mids = long term

Dangerfield Lone hand = not so much

KPF are harder to find that mids. Midfields can be built. If we play our cards right, a midfield can be built out of this draft

And please remind me who our 3 x top 10 picks in 2008 were?

Even still, past drafting is history. We all can admit Bailey had NFI

He drafted tall skinny kids that needed 5 years development before being ready

Neeld and co. will fast track a midfield

Jack Viney will be a better player than Dangerfield, possibly as early as Round 1 2013.

I dont think most MFC supporters realise how good Viney truly is.

Our midfield will be fine.. im all for the club chasing a star KPP.

Viney is a great get

JV plus a couple of outside classy mids delivering to Clark/Cloke is very appealing

Yeah... Viney will be better than an 85 game player from his first game...

Don't encourage this 1,765th alias of Tap My Scott. He feeds on it.

The key for us is that we are players, if that's in free agency or making some moves in trade week.

You are right, they are most likely referring to 2009, Scully, Trengove and Gysberts in top 11

Even then that's not all that flash. Scully is gone, Trengove is captain but struggling a touch and Gysberts has played 2 good games and can't get out of the medical room.

i think it will look alot better if you end game consider it:

Trengove, pick 4 this year, pick 12 this year and Gysberts who i rate when fit (cant wait to see him after this pre-season/even more so next)

Wouldn't be suprised to see one of our decent picks go on the table for a solid player elsewhere ala Clark, I don't see Neeld putting blind faith in the draft to fix the list.

Maybe a Travis Boak?

Keep in mind my friends that if our season continues on its current trajectory we will have a very low pick in the preseason draft. That means that we will get an early pick at any uncontracted players that may be available. We might be able to play hard ball at the trade table this year.

Boak is a genuine option for sure, Geelong sound to be in to him but he's still worth a look at.

PSD discussion will feature prominently on this board in months to come. Our PSD options this year will be very helpful in getting a deal done or at least snaring an AFL capable player.

We are going to get 3 top Mids in this draft - very possibly 4.

We would have to trade for Dangerfield.

Throw everything at Cloke and our list will be pretty much complete.

So a few picks in the draft and Cloke makes a list that can't win a game complete?

Long way to go before we reach that mark I'm afraid. The above will help but it will certainly not be complete.

Boak would be handy but is he the sort of player we need? He is a good player but I don't think he reaches great on a consistent basis. He doesn't have the X factor of, say, a Dangerfield that would set him apart in our workman like midfield.

Whilst I agree that Boak is not as dynamic as Dangerfield he is still a class footballer who has cut us a few times. Consistency is definitely an issue for him but he is only still only 23.

If he came at the right price he'd be great. But would you give up one of our top three draft picks for him or would you take your chances in the draft? I don't know.

He would be cheaper than dangerfield, both in terms of what we would have to give up for him and what we would have to pay him. He also said that he is not happy with his development at port, and maybe a switch to the dees would see an improvement in his development and consistency.
