With the likely addition of Chaplin, where do you see Griffiths fitting? I would prefer him to Astbury at CHF.
Griffiths will be playing CHB. Hardwick loves him there, can take a grab and his kicking can carry over zones.

Agree, but how do we play all of Grimes, Rance, Griffiths and Chaplin? And surely this means you've penciled out Post?
Pretty much. Then again with 6 months between this weeks game and next season anything can happen if he hangs around.

Last year i was on the Mitch Clarke bandwagon & I was cut down by many on here, With hindsight Mitch would of been the perfect player for us Both as a foward and Relieving ruckman along with Vickery our structure would of been perfect.

This year we have Cloke on the market, sure he doesnt cost us a draft pick but he is not the player that we need as RT mentioned we do have alternatives which are young and showing very very good signs in coming along to fill our 2nd 3rd tall needs in Griffiths,Vickery,Astbury,Elton & even O'Hanlon to an extent.

We dont need Cloke & The Burden he will place on our club for 5 years
Agree at the time we would have looked bonkers using our first 2 picks on guys who play ruck. In hindsight it would have been genius. Surely we can convince him out of Melbourne now?

Richmond has all but ruled itself out of the chase for Cloke, with coach Damien Hardwick declaring at the weekend: "It's more unlikely than likely."

At the end of the day, if this whole shabang becomes a package deal type situation, then I am tipping the tankers are basically clutching for a brittle branch as they sink into the mire. I mean how ****ing stupid can you be? Here is Mickey saying, if he doesnt get a gig next year, he wont coach again? LMAO...tankers are lambs to the slaughter. As I said to a mate, there are reasons the pies moved him on and it aint about "the transition" shit that they promoted. Its about the game has passed him by and it was beginning to show..

I know Cloke is a good player but the way this whole situation has been handled has been very strange. It's almost been handled for maximum ****up. With people pointing fingers and inuendo doing the rounds. For that reason alone I think RFC has dealt with things really well I think. There has been a lot of mud thrown and no one will come out of it clean. From the start it just looked too much to me like the old Sheedy thing of shopping around as leverage in negotiations. In the end I thought the arrival of a player in that way sends a divisive message to the rest of the team (potentially) and not really a team first message. Which could be more damaging long term. Just a few thoughts

This is the odd thing. Might mean Batch is finally getting some wing time. And Dea becomes a good depth player. But it's still 4 tall defenders, not at the expense of midfield rotations I hope.

Ize, is Batch more suited to the wing or Houli ? For me Batch has always looks stronger off half back and reads the play well too or as a floater/spare dropping back. Open to being corrected, but I like Bachar's run/speed and accurate kick into the forward line or shot at goal.

I wouldn't be taking Batch out of the backline, he's really suited down there. Reminds me of Enright a bit, but can also play on the talls, as we saw last week.

With this Travis Cloke saga what could happen is RFC trade its Port Compo pick and or 2nd round pick for the likes of Yarran/Robinson etc.. players in the age bracket so that Carlton can survive without them but relieve them of the salary cap burden.

Interesting times cause Carlton are going to have to do some manouvering to fit Cloke , Judd , Murphy and co etc.. in the cap

If the past is anything to go by all of these guys wont be available week in week out. Perhaps one is for insurance. Who knows Post could have a break year next year.

Griff can play either end, My preferred position for Griff is CHB for his deadly long kicking. Batch plays well as the third tall but could also become a very handy utility.

At the moment my preferred back 6 would be 3 tall in Grimes, Griff and Rance and three small in Houli, Morris and Ellis.

I am not putting ifs into the team yet such as Chappy etc until they are actually on our list.

The back six have had another year of experience and hopefully Newy will move into the midfield to give us the required midfield depth along with Axle to go to the next level. I think Newman would relish a move to mid field.

And it's a big no from me as for Travis Cloke.

Yep spot on leave him in the backline with Morris, Grimes and Rance our backline will be alot more than handy in the nxt few years..

Yeah those two GF appearances in a row prior to him leaving support that position.

The fact that Freo have upped the bid and its expected to be between 1.1m-1.2m per year and that Carltank are hot if Malthouse goes which he will means he will not be anywhere near Punt Road next year.

I think its a shame, but thats just me.

After listening to Flea tonight, while we have made an offer to Travis, we are not prepared to pay overs. In his words, he used the Geelong model, and said you couldn't justify paying Cloke the coin he wants, and paying Cotchin $500-600k.
We are looking for a CHF though.

This is so the attitude I want the club to take. :thumbsu:

He has never kicked 40-50 nor taken 60 marks in a side when he hasn't been the primary target and never will .
Don't forget this debate commenced after you gave reasons , what I don't believe and you have failed to provide evidence , that his form would dramatically improve by coming to Richmond .
I don't believe there is any evidence nor past history of #1 forward moving to another club as the second forward and improving their personal output .

You have failed to provide evidence that his coming to Richmond will not see an improvement, because it's not possible. Like me youve given reason you don't believe he will be a success and I have provided my reason he will e a success.

The closest thing I can think of to a number one forward movin. The best I can think of is Fev who when he and brown actually played together were pretty good. But Fev's body was shot and he was a massive tool of the field so it failed. But football wise that forward line was pretty potent.

I would also suggest WC forward like last year was still pretty awesome with Kennedy, Darling, Lynch and fox or nicnat resting up there each providing options for the midfield. We have Jack as our only option and possibly Vickery.

Anyone that is willing to pay 1.2 mil for Travis Cloke is braindead. GC/GWS aside you'd struggling to justify paying Ablett that much.

I'm Very Excited about seeing Astbury,Vickery,Riewoldt,O'Hanlon in our foward line - Dont need the $1.1million dollar man
Riewoldt $400k
Vickery $250k
Astbury $150k
O'Hanlon $100k
King $250k
Nahas $250k

F*** Me Blind Cloke wants almost as much as our entire foward line.
