The million $ question is whether the Blues can fit him under their salary cap?
Surely they are already paying megabucks for the sevices of Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and to a slightly lesser extent Waite, Carazzo, Simpson & Kruezer.
There will be several delistings at season's end to make room for Travis and his entourage!
They will fit him into their salary cap easily, $500k from carlton & $500k from visy for being their sewerage spokesman
David,Jason&cameron will all be on the payroll and the afl will pass it

People thinking Cloke is a shoe in for Carlton i ask you this .

How the f... do you think they can accommodate Clokes rumoured asking price along with Chris Judds Contract ?

There is nearly i third of your salary cap right there with with 2 players ... and what do you reckon they will have to pay the likes of Murphy , Gibbs and Kruezer long term ????

I think Carlton is the last club in the league that could afford Travis Cloke ;)

Visy appoints Judd Twavis as environmental ambassador
11:12 AM Wed 27 Aug, 2008 2012

Navy Blue turns green with Visy!

Carlton Football Club Captain and AFL star Chris Judd Twavis Cloke today signed a three-year contract to serve as an environmental ambassador for Visy, Australia’s leading recycling and packaging company.
Within his contracted role with Visy, Chris Twavis will work across Visy’s sustainability, recycling and environmental programs, acting as a spokesperson and advocate, and helping to raise awareness of environmental issues among the general public, customers and Visy employees.
The appointment further reinforces Visy’s leadership position on recycling, environment and community and its commitment to global leadership in sustainable business practices.
Commenting on the appointment Visy Director of Sustainability, Tony Gray, said: “We’re delighted to join forces with Chris Twavis, who shares our passion and commitment to sustainability and the environment.”
Chris Twavis is well known for his support for the environment and we believe his high profile and personal credibility will add significant strength to the promotion of recycling and sustainability messages.”
“Carlton has already established its credentials as the AFL’s greenest club, and we have an existing relationship with the playing group to promote recycling messages. Chris Twavis indicated from day one of his contract with Carlton that he wanted to play a meaningful role in environmental advocacy. We’re delighted to be able to offer this opportunity.”
“Visy plays a significant leadership role with its customers and the broader community on a range of environmental and sustainability issues: from global warming to encouraging all Australians to recycle and reduce their carbon footprint.”
Commenting on the contract, Chris Judd Twavis said: “Teaming with Visy is a significant step for me in shaping what my life beyond football might look like. I’m passionately committed to the environmental cause and I’m looking forward to building on my knowledge and then working to raise awareness and improve Australia’s environmental performance.”
Under the contract, Chris Twavis will be involved in media, community, customer, staff and stakeholder programs which are likely to include:
- representing Visy’s existing national school education programs
- promoting recycling messages during Planet Ark’s National Recycling Week
- representing Visy at education forums for stakeholders
- media engagement for Visy’s environmental campaigns.
- promoting the collection of $5 notes

Chris Judd's contract (6 years) was heavily front-loaded when he first signed up.

While it would still be a large salary, I doubt it would be anywhere near the 1.4 he was initially being paid (by Carlton and Visy combined).

My guess would be that his new contract would be around the $700,00 mark?

My god that press release was full of more shit than Steve Vizard at a financial seminar wasn't it.

"broader community" "leadership role" "encouraging all Australians to recycle"

Somehow Visy are all those things? What a laugh.

I agree with this.
But Cloke was clearly the standout CHF last season and likely the one before, which makes a lot of posts on here (not from you) redundant as some think he simply can't play!
Would be interested to see how some view Riewoldt's season, which I think has been to a degree disappointing, yet he could still win the Coleman Medal by default!!
Wasn't in Collingwoods top 05 players in 2008,2009 or 2010 .

I have spent every dollar in the salary cap. no more. no less. obviously this is by no means accurate. often not reflecting my views. not inlcude '-ending' contracts. just a thought for discussion and debate.

I have removed: McGuane, Connors, McDonald, Derickx, Moore (ret.), Webberley, White as they are out of contract, as well as Wright, Turner, Maric, Miller, Heslin.

Graham is the obvious list clogger.

Think "Cloke", think "Fevola to Brisbane"... PASS!
He is not a good shot at goal, and he has had the best midfield kicking the ball to him for how long??

luckily Carlton can not hide any offer for Cloke, because if there up front offer within the cap is too low then Collingwood will simply trump / match the offer. Any offer for Cloke will have to be an amount that the pies are not prepared to match. The tigers will be ridiculed if we do or do not get Cloke. We just have to except what ever position the club takes on this one. Love to get Trav, however, the club has a massive decision to make and possibly a massive commitment. Let's hope they get it right.
