dosent have the strength to go one on one with the likes of Cloke. Still only young and will become a very good chb. Just a pity the hawks have no other big defenders to swap him around

You mean we're not a dumb enough club.

Cotchin, Martin, Riewoldt and Vickery are out of contract next year. we pay overs for Cloke, we'll lose one of them. If we manage to keep them all, we'll lose a workhorse like Morris, Maric or someone like that. Maric's on 300k and when his contract ends in two years, he'll want a big pay increase. Better off finding someone cheap that can role play.

This isn't the Richmond of 2003.

Correction: Richmond aren't prepared to pay money for players that are going to upset the blueprint that we've established for our long term success.

I'd say it's two in a row. And one was a final. I could actually careless if he beats up on the weaker teams because that's who we struggle against.

With Blues said to be in the market for Lynch we must be some chance. Waiting on the edge like Melbourne with Clarke last season. But I'd also be interested in Gumby, yes injury prone but change of scenery might do him a world of good.

The best plans are the ones you stick to and don't deviate from. We have a plan. It includes not paying overs for anyone. $1mill a season for this bloke? I can think of 100 better ways to spend that kind of money and I am happy to outline them if/when I have the chance.

How do we lose one of them? Are you privy to all the contracts and delistings? You mates with the player managers and club power brokers who arrange these deals?

If so, im glad as we have an insider who can give us the goss:thumbsu:

It's not the 80s anymore either, which is what got us into this mess in the first place.

People here get carried away with glimpses of what might be !
We dont need him,in1-2 years we will have Elton , Griffiths , Astbury , Vickery all fighting for the role that Cloke will be taking up.

We need a Mitch Clarke type that can rotate with Vickery

Only 2 other players have kicked 6 against the hawks this year, Hawkins and Jack. Not the worst company to keep.

Cloke Is a tool but for most non Richmond fans so is Jack. Doesn't stop him being a quality player!
 
you know what ive sat by these threads most of the past 10-12 weeks knowing this superstar 6 foot 5 108kgs power forward would prove near on every bloke on this thread wrong!! i hate the clokes but i tell you what if we could get trav in yellow and black i would do in a heart beat!! he had shoenmakers beat more than 6 times tonight, just too bad his mate DAWES let gibson come over the top and spoil all night!!
imagine jack and trav being the foil for each other? and gibson had to play on reiwoldt? or visa versa?? now zoning off... would be a win win for the both of em!! Lay off Cloke... shit year and still kicked 50 and kicked 6 in a high pressure final(when was the last time a richmond player did that??)

Would like to see you argue this with Hardwick, a bloke who would have some idea about contracts and delistings, seeing as he said the following not long ago:
Hardwick said Richmond would like to recruit Cloke, as would every club, but there were dangers in putting all a club's energy and resources into signing a big name.

"The free agency market is one that can spiral out of control," Hardwick said.

"You can get one big fish, but the fact is there's two or three who can float out the other way."

No we just don't want to spend half our salary cap on a single player, not like other leagues that allow you to spend as much as you want.
No player is worth $1 million a year
