Johnstone kicks goals, hits targets and runs lines. With Melb perhaps looking to rebuild should we make him an offer? He'd compliment our midfield very well. He's the same age as Hayes and Baker. What would he be worth?

Cameron Wood is now Brisbane's 3rd choice ruckman. They've still got beau mcdonald and mitch clark on their list too. He was taken at pick 18 inthe '04 draft. What would be sufficient for him?

Johnstone wouldn't be a bad pick-up, but a ruckman is a higher priority. I guess it'd be optimistic to hope that Brisbane would take McQualter (drafted the pick before him).

I wouldn't trade Watts before securing a ruckman, with Gehrig gone he and Kosi are the main candidates for full forward

I disagree, I think Travis Johnstone would be a terrific pickup. No one has ever questioned his ability to deliver the ball. And i really dont know the fascination about picking up another ruckman, dont get me wrong we still have an issue with the ruck but the fact is we have 4 ruckman on our list, why pick up another ruckman who cant get a game for their current club?

Travis would be a great pickup! with Ross Lyon at the helm, i think they would instill some hardness into his game while still having the ball on a string!!

Oh yeah, our ruck stocks are really great. We've got Kosi, who we'll need at full forward now Gehrig's gone, Clarke's retired, we have no idea if Gardiner's going to pull up, Rix tries hard but is too often outclassed, Van Reehan's far too green and Brooks can't get a game despite our woes.

Wood would walk straight into our line-up, Brisbane has a very strong ruck division that squeezes him out.

Johnstone would be a good pick-up, but our ruck needs outweigh our midfield wants. I certainly wouldn't trade Watts for him at the moment

Just did a quick analysis on Woods vs Rix season. Rix actually averages more possesions per game than Wood (and lets face it Rix gets f'all possesions), more tackles, more goals and they average exactly the same amount of hitouts per game. Rix played 19 games and wood played 8.

My point is not that our rucks are any good (even though, I still think we should go into next year with Kosi and Gardiner as our ruck pair, with Rix as back up), and if the right ruckman was available then we should have a dip. BUT, Cameron wood is certainly not the answer. Johnstone would be a great pick up.

I suspect that this is an instance where stats are misleading. Rix may have had better stats, but he had less competition for his spot, and I suspect spent a greater amount of time on the park than Wood. Bear in mind that Brisbane were playing three ruckmen in some games, which would drag Wood's stats down.

We do not need another out-side running midfeilder in TJ, he is a good footballer but is not required. If anything we need an in-side player to help Ball in the packs. And PLEASE do not get another half-baked ruckman in Wood. We already have Rix, Brooks and Blake (Van Rehhnan will be good in a year or 2). Plus 2 decent ones in Kosi and Gardiner.

I think we definately need more outside players who are capable of delivering the ball but I;m not too sure on TJ, how old is he? I guess it depends on what we have to give up to get him. Melbourne are probably after a key defender and we're not exactley in a position to give any of them up. If Gradiner is fit next year that will solve of Ruck problem because he is/was a very good player. I think out biggest defeciency is actually our midfield/small players

Everyone of our midfielders apart from Ball and Hayes are outside runners. We need more in and under players feeding the ball out. We get smashed in hard ball gets. We are the best at finding the ball in open areas but when it comes to winning the hard ball a lot of our so called "superstars" go missing.

Would be thrilled if we could get Johnstone. Would definitely give up pick 27 for him, but I think that 27 and Watts would be a bit too much.

Watts, Pick 27 for Johnstone, Pick 38?

Cameron Wood might be a good ruckman in a few years time, but right now he is behind Gardiner and Kosi and is equal with Rix, Blake and Brooks. Won't improve our chances in 2008.
