Personally I would rather have Yze than Johnno, but if we can't get Yze, Johnno wouldn't be a bad 'consolation' prize.
And i would rather have Johnstone than Matty Richardson.
His future at Melbourne, from what i appear, doesn't appear too bright. Be pretty handful in the midfield.
I'd swap him to Melbourne for Houlihan and Murphy, realistically that is a fair deal, or the Dees can miss out and the blues poach him in the draft. (carlton are convinced that they won't lose the pre-season pick so that is why they are negotiating hard on the free agents)

The only club that will have Adam Yze and Travis Johnstone next season is Melbourne. They both just had easily the best seasons of their careers and are still improving. No way would Melboune allow them to go.

You want to make a bet on that ?
I'm sure either Yze or Johnstone, probably the latter, will quit Melbourne to join Carlton.
Melbourne are not in a position to negotiate, both players could earn a lot more money at the Blues, and if i was them, i would certainly turn my back on the boring range rover club and join the greatest club in the universe.

What a load of rubbish. Firstly they aren't going anywhere...
Now lets take a hypothetical look at things.
Johnstone was a Collingwood supporter as a kid, the last club he would want to goto is Carlton. Carlton have bugger all room in the salary cap according to all reports, Melbourne now have plenty with retirements/delistings and are in a position to offer both Yze and TJ more money.
Lastly the best reason you could come up with was "Range Rover Club" (come up with something original and people might take you seriously, to join "the greatest club in the world" who just had the worst season they have ever had, are in salary cap problems, and are going through club in-fighting.

Nice try.

No offence but Melbourne are a pretty boring club, traditionally. No babes, no style, even their coach is pretty boring. Gutnick spiced the club a bit, but he's long gone, and Gab Szondy hardly speaks a word that anyone is interested in.

At least we won more than 4 games for the year. I couldn't care less about how boring people may think we are, as long as we produce on the field, I'm happy, as I'm sure most Demon supporters are!

Even if what you said was true (not original either), and it's not, it would still be better than being dead-last with club in-fighting.

Are we forgetting that the Saints are still in the lottery for the first pick in the pre season draft?

Gardiner, taps to Hayes, handballs to Harvey, weaves dodges, to Johnstone, pinpoints the pass to the leading Riewoldt.

mmmm, like the sound of that :D

Ahh yes, who could forget that the first 4 picks in the pre-season draft are now random between the bottom 4 teams.

Actually all the teams with less than 7 wins

Oh well the odds of the lottery result would still be in favor of Carlton.
Yet the odds of either player choosing to leave Melbourne to go-to Carlton are remote, so the outcome of the lottery means nill.
Also how do you figure the result of the lottery would be in favor of Carlton, a 50% chance sounds pretty even to me...
You've shown yourself to know little about the situation.

Why would anyone want either of them?
Murphy is an absolute hack and even Carlton supporters say Houlihan is soft. To even think they are a fair swap for Johnstone is laughable. Carlton do bnot have the players to swap for any decent players,. If they did they wouldn't have finished with only 3 or 4 wins or whatever it was. Carlton have some good draft choices to trade and Allan who is a riskh anyway. No club would trade for Murphy and most wouldn't even take him for free in December. You might get a late draft pick or someone's "delist" player for Houlihan because he has shown some glimpses of talent but his attitude and heart count against him.

It is 7 or less wins, so that leaves the lottery between Carlton, St. Kilda and Richmond.
