Travis Johnstone

Nick Maxwell, Harry O'Brien and Heath Shaw all say "hi". Of the players you mentioned, on this year's form, only Goddard would get a go in the Collingwood back six.

Lol. That is all.

Neither of those guys would get a game ahead of Alan Toovey this year. Gilbee hasnt had his best year, and Hunt is too slow and was utterly exposed in the Prelim. Toovey has had a great year.

I didn't say Maxwell has better disposal than those guys. I said he has good disposal in response to your suggestion we had no-one who did. Maxy's disposal is good and what's more there is more to disposal than kicking an attractive ball - there's decision making and reading the play and in those categories he's elite. So his disposals tend to be effective and telling.

Like I said, I didn't say you don't have anyone with good disposal. You just don't have anyone with elite disposal. Travis Johnstone would bring that to your side, and you have the defensive quality around him to cover for Trav's lack of it.

You think Nick Maxwell's disposal is at the level of Josh Hunt and Lindsay Gilbee, and that neither of those guys would get a game ahead of Alan Toovey, and I'M the one talking crap?

i thought we were talking about Travis Johnstone?

To answer your question i believe that whilst they may not have better disposal than those two, they are perfect of the structure of the team. Considering how weve gone, i wouldnt be criticizing our backline

oh and thats a no to Travis Johnstone...dont have a need at all

Your side doesn't 'need' anything, that's why you're probably about to win a premiership. Johnstone would be good insurance and add something you don't have though. He's definitely better than Tyson Goldsack, who might be about to play in your GF side.

He will be a nomination for the PSD...so only if a club has no interests in young players who missed out in the national draft will he get selected...a top team may pick him up for free.

At least he won't demand much salary, and most of his income comes from his professional side job as a street beggar!

Classic :thumbsu:

the thing with tj is that when a team is firing he will most likely get 3 votes, when the team is bad, he is horrible.

Psst we have won nearly 90 games out of a hundred and people still criticise our team. Collingwood supporters really need to get over themselves, you have finished 1st in the H&A one year that is all.
Doesn't mean your defence is the greatest ever or even the best in the competition and doesn't mean it will be the best next year either.

It also doesn't mean there are not weaknesses in the team which can be fixed through trading or drafting.

What can he add? He is shorter and slower than both Toovey and Goldsack and does not have as good as a defensive game as either of these younger players. He may be a better kick, but he would not take any of these players' positions on a half back/back pocket. We have enough insurance down back, thanks. We don't want a 30 year old list clogger.

We'll give Brisbane back Anthony Corrie though. He'll get a game there.

Anyway... I think Carlton are looking for another midfielder...

I didn't think he had a good year.

He played some absolutely incredible games as a back pocket this year. His game against the Pies was sublime.

I have to throw in with those that say he is unfairly maligned at the Lions and held to a higher standard than most others.

Big fan of him and I hope we can find some funds to keep him around another year to maintain some experience in our midfield which has lost Rischitelli, Brennan and Sherman.

You'd think Brisbane would want to keep him around with the loss of Rischa, Brennan and Sherman from their midfield. Also Black and Power are getting older, and unfortunately it doesnt seem like their young mids are ready to take on the burden yet. Travis is still a good footballer, and would be in any teams 22. Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant. He's been treated pretty poorly by the Lions this year, and was made into a scapegoat somewhat. He was dropped numerous times after being in the bests. Hoping he goes around again, or gets a go at another club, as he still has a few years of good football in him IMO.

I didn't watch too many Brisbane games.I remember him being rather patchy.I like his manly beard although.

He will get another year on a low base contract. We have been able to negotiate a 3rd Party Contract for him that will allow him to supplement his income.

He will be given exclusivity selling "The Big Issue" in the Queen St Mall.

Yeah, he's great when he's unaccountable.

I wonder why he was dropped so often

Was really happy when Melbourne got rid of him and every Lions game I go to where he plays just confirms it.
He does cut a dashing figure in South Brisbane on his op shop bicycle though.

So much potential as the "Rolls Royce of wingman" rookie. Creative. An elite sense for the game. Silky. But no endeavour.

Still love watching him, when he's on. But Grimes (pick 14) for Trav will go down as one of the best trades the Dees have made.
