Travis Tuck... 348k

Round 1: VS Gelong - 125 points: Great score, first round for teh year and its against gelong. What can i say, it looks like he has potential.

Round 2: Didn't play

Round 3: VS North - 57, ok, bad round, ill take it, crap round actually for him.

Round 4: DIdn't play again...

Round 5: VS WCE - Crap score, 64.. another crap score, and against Coast eagles... a team that isn't filled with point hogs. Hawks won, and his team did well in points, yet he managed to fail miserably.

Overall, until last week he was playing less than not playing. If i was to trade this tool, then I would have to bring in a rookie, or play beams, but currrently, beams is covering for tuck more than tuck is covering for tuck!

So, I guess I'm worrying about three things

1) He's not playing.. is he an expendable extra? i.e. will an inform hawks team take too much of the ball away from Tuck, hence giving tuck a crap score

2) He has played thrice, and rested twice. How much time will he be taking off. One wasn't even on the team sheets i beleive.

3) 125 was great. But he actual scores have ben 64 and 57. You can't sya he averages 82. He got a really high score once, and the av60 is what you can expect each week. e.g. Cheney scored more than 100 in the first week and is now averaging about 6tysomething. Ill expect cheney to do 60. Jut like tuck looks capable of 60-70max.

I invisiged tuck to be like Hurn, Gilbert, Krak, higgins, skippy etc... A mid priced player who might rise a bit this year and hence be a stepping stone towards a gun.

Personally:
I unfortinately didn't pick ottens. I had rich, robinson and beams. I also have skippy on the bench who i intend to keep and Malceski. I can trade down one of mal or tuck and up the other.

So what are your thoughts? Will tuck improve by that much? The gamble is against a drop in price. 57+64+? tihs round. Could be a serious drop.

Or are there rookies who can fill his stop leaving a money to upgrade someone else?

I have him too.. I dont think he will drop very much even if he does score 60 -70 as his price is right in that pocket anyway. You summed it up pretty well. I will wait for the opinion of others with you.

I have him also and he's causing me some grief - to think I was tossing up between him and Farren Ray as my last midfielder...ouch.

I honestly don't think he will drop in price much, if at all, and he still has potential to score well occasionally.

I'm either going to keep him and use him as a stepping stone to a gun in a couple of weeks, or I'm seriously thinking about trading him out for either Moss or Picken to get some more cash in the bank. On the one hand, it's a sideways trade because I'd have to upgrade Moss or Picken eventually, but the extra cash might save me an extra trade somewhere else and I'd come out even if Moss or Picken ended up around 300k anyway.

In answer to the original post, I have no idea what to do so am not much help....but I think his price will stay around where it is now.

I've got Tuck, also thought he would be a mid-price improver. I also have Hasleby who has the same record, good game and bad games however he hasn't missed any so his price has risen more.

Tuck's breakeven is 91, his average last year was 60, you would expect him to average 75 this year otherwise you wouldn't have picked him, so if he gets 75 he will about breakeven, but I think with match fitness through consistent selection he will end up rising in value by Round 10.

I'm going to keep playing him because I have more things to worry about like finding another rookie to replace Robinson if he keeps getting dropped.

If Hille hasn't gone down my focus this week would be on my mid-field but I have to pick a ruckman now. I think you mean you didn't pick Otten, not Ottens. I'd stay away from Otten because scoring a ton against Melbourne is easy.

You could take a risk on a rookie like Moss who is still going to go up even with the $144k he already has, Hartlett from Port who is on the bubble this week.

If you have money in the bank you can also go with Lenny Hayes (B/E 57), Andrew Swallow (B/E 37), Farren Ray (B/E 43) and Daniel Jackson (B/E 11) who all got impressive tons this week.

Agreed. Now that he's back playing again he should get back to the form he showed over the preseason. The game on the weekend was wet and windy as well. So I'm happy to persist with him.

Besides, if Tuck is your greatest problem this week I envy you.

The bigger issue with Tuck is that some of the big boys who have missed games through injury - eg. Sewell, Lewis, Bateman - are back and may limit his onball time.

hah yeah.. Otten.. But he's gone up quite a bit and will go up more.. atleast 300k cash cow... will hit 400k and so i can't cash him easy. But i don't have him. I have the non playing 160k Robinson, who has made... 60k, beams, whos going ok, rich going well, but don't want to cash him and tuck, gone crap.
Hoping at the start of teh year, through tuck, rich robinson and beams, i would be able to get tuck with a bit of help to a gun and rich with the rest of the moeny to another gun.

I have been thinking about upping Tuck to Power or someone. ANd Mal > Raines as hes back this probs.
But hey, i only have a bit over 50k.

---------- ----------------- -------------

I could go on with Tuck. But, as I said in teh first post, Tuck doesn't look to be getting much ball it the near future and he could be greatly used to upgrade Malceski.

There are rumours he has a nagging hip injury, which is more serious than is being disclosed. Dunno if that's true. I doubt the others will limit his on-ball time as that's all he really does, whereas Bateman and Lewis often play wider. The Hawks actually lack in and unders imo and he will play plenty assuming he's fit.

ill hang onto him one more week, more important trades to be made this week.

his breakeven isnt to bad, he shouldnt hopefully go down to much in value if at all. (touch wood)

I guess one thing that it comes down to is, are there any rookies to play there 3rd game this week, who will be say 60k more expensive next week.?

I'm in a similar situation with Haselby, He's doing OK, but averaging around the same as my rookies in Rich, Otten and Beams.

I'm thinking a downgrade to Hartlett this week to free up some cash to upgrade a back rookie who are all doing terribly.
