Geelong have been completely hopeless out of the centre square for god knows how long but we have seemed to have done ok from stoppages in the forward line from my perspective. The tactic where we got everyone to clear the area sans Riccardi, Chapman and Ablett worked well for a fair while, certainly paid dividends throughout 05.

Geelong was ranked 16th in the league at generating goals from stoppages. In 2005 they were 15th. This is particularly poor considering Geelong averaged the 3rd most stoppages in the league.

Fair enough. Kingy and Ottens seemed to do ok for us their for a while inside 50. I'm sure we were ranked poorly in a lot of things last year. The 05 ranking surprises me a bit.

It seems crazy to me too. We have Ottens, Chapman & Jnr. Those guys seem like they would be some of the best in the league at generating goals from stoppages.

How good was Varcoe's goal though! Toe poke moving the ball forward, picks up, sells the dummy and then kick an easy goal. Just oozed class
