And? I am watching cricket :)
Please fill us in.

What is he doing on, on a sunday night?

Tiffany Cherry, great interview, indigenous discussion, injury discussion, he spoke about getting his body right, really appreciating his job at Geelong as a footballer, maybe working with youth in the future, and sounded very sincere, humble, and aware of his good fortune. And very respectful of what he regards as a dream job.

Thanks guys. Did he mention Meto at all?

I was seriously going to ask you to listen to this interview.
Trav said CS is a great communicator, very transparent , he knows where he stands, what needs to be done, he's working on it, and Meto is irrelevant. Said he also had a lot of respect for Bomber.
But not Meto.

You do realise Meto will be so pumped at being elevated to this level of relevance. And his son ever so proud.:D

At the end of the day, I hope that what Meto wants is what we all really want- a fit, exciting, more confident, brilliant Varcoe.
From where I sit, the main objection is the apparent delight if TV fails to reach the accepted standard.

I am a huge Varcoe fan but he looks to be specialising in chasing tail and being " where the ball isn't " at the moment , actuallly correct that - for quite a few weeks. He's not pulling his weight at 7 possessions no matter how many tackles or pressure acts he manages.
He doesn't look like a natural small forward like Chappy and Motlop has him covered as the attacking player defensive side of centre ( a role Varcoe can play well)
Where do we see his role in the Finals ? Unless he starts to make more impact he could be missing in September:(

And today, we brought in some VFL guns like Walker, Stringer, and they showed similar traits- exceptional attitude and desire, but lacking in the real class you need to win finals.
And Brown is killing it in VFL. Can't stay in.
Stick with a proven game changer with class, X factor, goal sense and elite disposal. He is worth persevering with. Right now, his forward pressure acts / tackles is great. Wait til he gets his touch back.

I'd love to know what "X factor" actually means. I'm thinking it gets redefined as "we love this player, we can't provide actual figures that justify his inclusion, so we'll just say 'X-factor' ".

I'd be staggered if Varcoe was able to play decent football in the finals.

He plays the game at the margins even when he is at his brilliant best, an out of touch Varcoe is no value at all.

I am a little concerned with the faith being shown in him. Hopefully Chapman's return will see him eased out. They surely won't go with two underdone players and Chapman is different class.

Unfortunately, he has been the teacher's pet from the moment he arrived at the club. He was gifted a ton of games before he remotely deserved them and that won't be changing now.

I could live with worse returns if he'd played 1 or 2 senior games back. He's played 5 now, there aren't any more excuses. Especially when you look at how others are treated.

Something I'm sure a few of us have been guilty of at one point or another. :D

That's a bit unfair.
His defensive pressure up forward in 07 was enormous. And then he ran out of steam and was dropped.

Fact is if selected I do, I'm not just a blind follower though,...... I do expect results of which he has miserably failed to produce, but if you think he's up for it again?..., against the big tough Eagles, remember you've been flogging the dead horse for 5 weeks now! Good luck!

I see that you've reminded everyone of his great defensive pressure back in 2007, :D, surely you carn't be serious? 07!...but then again I know you are!o_O that's really scrapping the barrel!
I can't deny you this much, you really are his fan!

meto I think you really need to check usernames when misquoting them.

Come on own up, you did say his defensive pressure up forward was stratospheric back in the year 2007, you can't deny that, your post is just above, you know!.... and then he ran out of steam!!!:D

You were responding to veedubs, and commenting on something I said.
You have honestly lost the plot.

And my comment about 07 was in response to partridge saying he was gifted games back then.
I wasnt saying he should stay in now because of 07 o_O

Ah blow it!...but then again you are claiming the dubious from 07',....bit rich!

Varcoe at his best is a very good and important player. He has also played well in some great wins for the club so obviously gets a lot credit from the supporters and his team mates.

But lets not shy away from the fact, when not at his best, he contributes very little and is actually a major problem for the side because he does not commit mentally or physically to the task at hand. In those great Geelong sides, we could probably carry a player, who was a little inconsistent with his physical commitment. I don't think we can anymore, especially when Moltop already provides that run and carry (and more) that Varcoe was so crucial for.

Only the very best players can make a contribution with limited preparation, Varcoe is not in that category. Chapman, for example, may well be.
