Has anyone noticed, + this isn't specific to Varcoe, how some of our players seem to just stand still + watch the play? I noticed it against Port. While the ball was in play, some of our players appeared to be observers + Port grabbed the ball, ran on + goaled.
Pressure acts stats are über  + all the haters better get with it! Since fantasy footy, it's all about the stats! :p Nothing else matters apparently! :D :p

Yes it does - elite running patterns!

can we give this a rest
there are a number of players who come back from shoulder injuries and lack the form they had prior

looking at thunt and varcoe is clear evidence of this

mark murphy of the blues is another

burbury is shit, and can not kick a goal, plenty of evidence on this front,
he has played one decent game ine the vfl and it was a final
he is injured, there are no alternatives so lets all move on

Has been good on the outside tonight, but as soon as body contact is initiated or it looks like it's going to be, he goes to water. If he could get over that he might become a better player.

That's exactly what I said in a post today, if he'd go and get a few himself he could be really great but how do you teach that, especially at his age not going to happen. Just wants to play bruise less footy.

Well you tell me why he goes to ground whenever contact looms?....or is that ok with you? o_O
If you see my other posts you will see I have been critical of TV for years. Not as much as you, but I thought his hot potato handball to Chappy on the wing in (?) 09 GF was the start for me. I want him to better but he is like a deer in the headlights too often

Been ok when he has had the ball. We know he is soft as butter. All sides do need outside receivers though. He just stands out as nothing but that though.

At last…and obviously thats what his role is…stay on the outside and provide run and pressure….

HE's played quite well off half back tonight.

Dave he's had his hand offs, but it's the contact situations he just avoids at all cost. It's cost us a couple of goals, just wish he'd get out of the defensive half.

He's playing off half back meto…..thats where he has been selected….and he's done ok today.

OK!....I can see a role but both Sherringham and Stringer showed a bit tonight as well. I thought Travis got in the way of our own a few times, but it's happening at speed I understand. Just doesn't revel in the contest enough for me.
I'd still prefer him on a wing where he's got space, to risky down back.

I think I like Blicav's in defense seems to have time to chase down smalls after contesting with the talls. I liked his goal as well.

Stringer was very good I thought, and thought Blitz did the job as well. Stringer should keep his place next week…really stood up in the last quarter.

Travis was fine today…just need consistency from him…19 off half back is ok.

No he doesn't. He never has, and it's a football followers instinct to embrace those who bore in and get the ball. You can't have every player doing that though. Someone has to be available for those players to dish it out to who can also use it well.

Look, he frustrates me as well, but who else plays the 'sheepdog' role ahead of him? Certainly not Sheringham or Stringer, they need to get their own ball with their limited skill sets.

How many times have you watched that game? Watch the last quarter, which may have been the quarter of that handball, Varcoe along with Ablett and Byrnes were about the only 3 with any run left in their legs. He was as important as anyone in winning that game.

If you're going to criticise him, try and pick a game where he deserved it.

I thought he was just ok tonight. Gave up 2 goals from either being soft or being out of his comfort zone on the last line of defence. Take your pick.

Personally I thought Stringer looked promising and did some nice things tonight, after all he hasn't played a senior game for some time, he acquitted himselfquite well I thought.

Also that Stringer kick to Selwood on the run forward of centre was better than anything Varcoe produced tonight, I wouldn't peg him for a low skill player to soon.
He's no mug.
