What's happened to Travis Varcoe? Why haven't we heard anything about him? I don't see him playing in our seniors or VFL side, and we have no injuries, so what happened to him? We gave him the No. 5 guernsey, so there must be high hopes for him. Will Thompson play him before the end of the season?

He returned from a hip injury about 2 weeks ago.Nobody is playing in the VFL.We have a bye.

Varcoe hasnt had a preseason,he spent it recovering from his broken foot. Which put him behind the 8 ball. He now is carrying something which has meant limited VFL time.May seem him right neaar the end (21 or 22), but i think they should just let him play out the season

Yeah, there's no rush for him to come in yet. Let him play out the rest of the year in the VFL and get some football into the body, get a pre-season behind his belt, and focus on 2007.

Shown he's got ability (albeit, in flashes), but there would be nothing worse than slotting him in when he isn't ready at this stage.

I would put him in the AFL side if we can't make the 8 anymore but if we are still in contention in the last few rounds he won't get a game this year.

To be honest, I think that's an irrelevent factor.

I think people underestimate the physical side of the issue. A year out from football is a long time, regardless of age. A resultant limited pre-season has, as rizzo alluded to, restricted Travis to bit appearances thus far as he's clocked up the minutes in the body. The mid-season injury to his hip didn't help.

I'll concede I haven't seen alot of the VFL this year, so I'm drawing an assumption from what I have seen and heard/read, but I'd be surprised if Trav has played a full game out this year. There's just no reason to play him until he's 100% physically (and by that, not just being completely over his injury, but having the legs to run out games) and earnt it.

from what I have read on Cats Claw he has (as said above) played only cameos in the VFL. Has looked good at times, and had a hip injury a few weeks ago.

He shouldn't play AFL this year, he needs to work on his fitness, have a full preseason for next year and hopefully hit the park next year living upto his reputation. There is apparently a highlights tape floating around of Travis which the word is "awesome" But that is just gossip.

while hes injured cant he just bench and do some curls and spend a fair bit of time building his torso up? and get on the protien shakes aswell?

is pre season just a time to get big and fit or do they play interclub matches and focus on skills?
