If it is a word (which is the subject of much debate) it is inappropriately used in place of "agreement". That much is certain.

Not so sure about that CE. Fred Durst [ Fred who? ] copped quite a bit of flak when he said in a speech at the Grammy Awards that we were "all in agreeance" that the looming war with Iraq should be avoided, but there were also these responses .....

“Jesse Sheidlower, the principal North American editor of The Oxford English Dictionary. Sheidlower states that agreeance is a word and that Durst used it correctly.
“It’s in the OED,” Sheindlower told the paper. “He did use it correctly.
“It’s a perfectly regular formation,” he told The Observer, “… ‘Agree’ is a common word ‘-ance’ is a very common suffix. The meaning of sticking together ‘agree’ and ‘-ance’ is what you’d expect it to be.”
Reading from the text, Sheidlower said The Oxford English Dictionary defines “agreeance” as “the act of agreeing, AGREEMENT, agreement in several of its meanings.”

"Hagit Borer, chairwoman of the University of Southern California’s linguistics department, defended Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, calling use of the word “agreeance” when speaking out about the impending war in Iraq at the Grammy Awards last month was an “innovative” choice, noting that the English language was malleable. “It’s not a conventional usage but I wouldn’t say it’s wrong,” Borer told Reuters. “It indicates is that he was making creative use of the language. That doesn’t make it wrong.”

So I'm going with Sheidlower and Borer, as somebody who likes to be innovative I reckon I got it right, although I guess we may not be in agreeance on the matter. :D

You said you stand by what you said. My interpretation of that is you are not admitting you were wrong, at least in some respects. Right? That's your right but I think that the deeper we get in to Varcoe's career, the more inaccurate and shortsighted the statements you and others made about his early career form seem.

In the immortal words of The Captain "What we've got here is...failure to communicate."
Yes I stand by what I said up to the time of our initial discussion, that was my opinion then so why would it change, doesn't matter if he subsequently turns out to be the best player ever to wear the blue and white hoops, it doesn't invalidate what I said about his form "up to that point".

As fun as it is jousting with you Cattery! I'll sum up by saying, I'm bloody glad Varcoe is proving to be the player many of us - including the hierarchy at the GFC - knew he could be. I'm also glad that many (but not all, it seems ;) ) who doubted are putting their hand up to say they were wrong.

Heck mate I've "put my hand up" twice and said I was wrong [ by the looks of things ] about how his career would progress, can't be much fairer then that I wouldn't think.

I've got no problem admitting when I'm wrong, been so plenty of times in the past and no doubt will be in the future, and just like to add that in this case I'll be elated to be so.

Anyway, this will be my last post on the topic for now.

Probably a good idea, what's that saying? "it's a wise man who knows his limitations" :)

^My cat had to leave the room after that chasedown.

I loved it how the commentators started to masturbate over Franklin going on a run, then Trav appears and smashes him. ****ing brilliant!

Someone PLEASE youtube! I wanna make a gif for a new avatar!

He is brilliant to watch. Really thought he should have straightened up and slotted that goal from 50 rather than accidentally nearly handball to Blake. Be more selfish Travis!

Some awesome efforts today. He's always had a much greater impact on the game than was apparent on the stat's sheet. Glad to see he's kept improving however. To me we're a better team with him in the side.

Love to see a montage of Varcoes run downs and turnovers. He causes about 5 or 6 a game.

I'd also like to see a you tube clip with Buddy's goal down the wing followed by that run down. Maybe hooker and Varcoe split screen.

That tackle was AWESOME.

Travis gives us so much defensively. And he's great offensively too, even if I did have my heart in my mouth when he gave that handball over the top to Stokes instead of kicking the goal.

Yeah that's the thing TV lovers still carry on about, He still needs belief.

The thing I loved about the tackle was that it appeared he realised he had to go or buddy was off and he just changed gears.

How was the one in the last quarter where he went to handball to Blake, realised who it was, thought to himself "I didn't want to do that" so pulled the handball a bit and ran and picked up the crumbs himself? :D

The run down on Franklin had me going crazy.... my son thought I had gone crazy lol

and how hilarious to hear the gold capped one near me say something to his mate about buddy just coasting. tossers.

rather than accidentally nearly handball to Blake.

that was hilarious, must have heard the voice and got into motion and then realised who he was handballing to and tried to pull it back.

There were tow Grand Final moments intodays game. The first was a repeat of the goal of the decade with Varcoe hanballing to Chappy for a snap goal and the second was the long kickout from fullback that Harry Taylor marked and got up holding his head. It made me look up the field to see if Rooke was up and about.
Honestly, Varcoe teases the shit out of me. Everytime he gets the ball, I want to see him bust the game open and he seems to always dish it of and let someone else take the responsibility. When he finally starts to take on the game, look out for him!

The Foxtel replay has conveniently cut the Varcoe tackle on Franklin altogether, so I still haven't seen it in play with commentary. With all the dull bits they left, perhaps they should get an editor who has some idea about anything.

Any Youtubing would be appreciated.

That mark was superb - The H's hands have been fantastic all year. Just when you think we've run out of people to be under rated he is straight up now a premier defender, surely a huge chance for AA CHB.

Just wish he'd get more than 14 possessions, Byrnes only 8, we need the extra tall, just not kicking the big scores with to many tiny forwards.

Carn't wait for Hawkins and Mooney.
