End of the first quarter, I think (or may have been early in 2nd), Varcoe pushed off a defender in our forward 50 with a don't argue - that's the main improvement with him this year - more strength/confidence in his body. Last year or '08 he would have been caught holding the ball trying that.

He has done that a fair bit over the past 2 years.

But what I loved about it was it didn't seem to be a reaction to the pressure.
It was like he thought out the play, let the contact come so he could hold the ball up until a lead was presented.

Complete confidence.

Its the sort of thing Gazza or SJ would do.

No he hasn't. I love the kid, but he is way off AA. Too drunk to form a coherant argument but he won't make the AA squad let alone AA.

at 10:30 am on a sunday?!? damn, man... ive been struggling with an essay since 8:30, and youre drunk? either you went far too large last night, or you need to reassess a few things... ;)

It is getting to the point that I have complete confidence something good will happen when he has the ball. When was the last time he wasted a possession? It just goes to show that weight of numbers is not the be-all, end-all in footy. Give the lad 15 possies and he will have an impact.

I said at the beginning of this year that TV would be elite by years end...( and copped a fair bit of stick for it btw ) ....well he's certainly approaching that level now. I expect him to play a bigger role in the midfield next year....his class just oozes from his possessions now...excellent decision making and wonderful disposal. the kids a gun...and maybe Goodes aside, is the best indigenous player in the AFL ( cop that Dawk fans! )

Awaiting meto assessment of his progress this year.. :D

15 touches, 3 goals and 4 goal assists. Every second possession resulted in a goal!

..... and the tackling, and the shepherding, and the sheer gut level running to draw defenders away from the point of attack so as to render them incapable of flooding the target.

As well as the easily countable stuff, Travis' game is also built upon an unceasingly & unselfish lead role in the Dance of the Thousand Intangibles.
