How long is Travis contracted to Geelong? The reason I ask is that on a recent flight from Adelaide to Melbourne I got talking to a guy seated next to me who was raving about Travis, what a great pick up he would be, and how he has progressed as a footballer. It later emerged the guy I was talking to is one of two recruiters employed by GWS. He didn't say GWS had Varcoe on its hit list, but....

I know the cousin of recruiter who is working for GWS and he said they had approached him and Travis is currently trying to get out of his contract down here.

The point of my post was that I hope GWS doesn't do a GC on us. I have absolutely no idea if GWS would be looking at Varcoe, but the fact that in one breath this recruiter (an ex Kangaroos player BTW), was singing his praises, and then later revealed who he is employed by, made me wonder if Varcoe might be on GWS's radar.

This time last year NO-ONE would have believed Ablett and Geelong could be parting ways.

I can Guarantee you that Trav is in the process of re-signing with the cats and has been in negotiations since mid season.

He will definately not be leaving the Cats - my source is rock solid!!

Yeah I know. Its put a pretty big spanner in the works down there with contracts - a lot of the un-contracted guys want to re-sign, but the club cant put a final figure on it until they find out what Gary is doing.

I think Selwood broke the mould, bit the bullet and just signed, but we all know he is a natural leader and was leading by example(not to mention he has always been a die hard cats supporter as a kid).

But from what I have been told, most of the guys that havent yet re-signed will within weeks of the Ablett decision.

Just wish my source knew what Ablett was doing and we could all end this bloody painful merry-go-round.....
