I thought the Yarran chase was pathetic and although he has done some good things this year his recent form as been patchy, his game against Carlton was very poor. Some coaches would drop a player purely for that pathetic chase but I am convinced he should be dropped on form. Given Bews and Thurlow both have a bit of pace I don't see a problem and I can't imagine those young guys playing for a spot giving up a chase so easily as that.

It was an indictment on all the hoopla regarding his top end speed wasn't it, hope now all that hype is rejected which promotes his presupposed pace.
I've known it's been relatively mythical.
He's no faster than Selwood if that, it was all over in the first 5 metres, that's why he gave up.

Thought Caddy displayed some real speed tonight, some of his chase downs were like Murdoch's pace.

He was shocking last night, he improved for a while there but his last two weeks have been really poor. He is back on the edge for me.

Make that 3 weeks x 11 disposals off HB/Mid, game scores 30-40's, we do need some decisions to be made with others coming back and our developing talent. When will they wake up?

When Travis is at his best (think 2011 GF), he is so valuable for us, but even after all this time he still seems to lack self belief and it is reflected in what look like half arsed efforts. He just isn't competing with enough intensity (unless his body won't let him), and I am far from a Varcoe neh sayer, but I think he has to go out of the side. He is a weak link at the moment, and it is hurting us, sad to say.

Just quietly his opponent for that game was Leon Davis.

Ive been a TV supporter but I require effort all the time. I can handle the lack of stats as long as i see effort in his running. He quit in that chase and that will put you in my crosshairs….

Not good enough..

Go Catters

I have never had a bad word to say about him and for a long time thought he could be what Motlop has become.
I do now think simply that other players are better options (eg Bews and Thurlow) and he is a depth player now in the 25-30 range.
I would play him in front of Smedts however.

Good to see the Varcoe haters being thorough.
Even turning a Varcoe toast thread into a roast.
Still, since absolutely every thread on here goes that way, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Bored, but not surprised.

I tend to skip over the "Claytons' Tackles" columns, a bad failing of mine.
Wonder if he got one for "chasing" Yarran?
Probably. That's why I reckon it's a crap stat.

As a collective group it 'might' provide a pointer to intensity.
Other than that. Pfffttttt.

Well of course it's going to be a consistent topic of discussion when some who continually delivers donuts can't get dropped and is keeping talented youth that actually have upside out of the side. The majority now, even after a lot of us defending him for a long time, have had enough and until it changes it will be a pressing topic. So, no, you shouldn't be surprised.

The sooks will always go down smearing, that's all they've got left to say....... pity they don't actually support the team in preference over a player.

I just watched the match highlights, and his failed chase on Yarran was not as bad as I remembered it. He kept pace with Yarran for a good 30m and only faded off right at the end. The way people are talking it sounds like he gave up a couple of steps in, but if you go and watch it you'll see that's just not true.

Watch from 3:14.

Also watch the 2nd and 3rd clip in the video. It's not as though Varcoe isn't doing some good things.

Caddy was a gun last night. Hope he can keep this form up as it gives us another one-on-one weapon.
