I apologise if this subject has been done to death, but i really think that Tredders should be made captain next year.
Primus is a fantastic leader but coming off a poor season and potentially will not be the player he once was due to rule changes, age and injury.
the time is nigh!

Might have considered it b4 the Sydney game. There was absolutely no leadership across the ground in that game. Sorry Treders but your not ready to be made captain of the club yet. Matty will still lift the team by his presence

Agreed. A 9-game season is not "a poor season" where those games were missed through injury. Mattys' season was shortened by his trying to come back too early. And the rule changes that were brought in at the start of 2003 have been softened by clear thinking. Matty is still the team lifter and should be our captain as long as he plays. You never heard anyone say Greg Chappel should captain Australia while Ian was there, although Greg was plainly the more talented. The ability to be a good captain is an indefinable quality.

playing 9 games doesnt constitute a good season either. the games that primus did play he was largely ineffective due to the ridiculous rules at the beggining of the year and later from coming back when he was clearly unfit.
Also i dont think its fair to point out tredders lack of leadership in the finals game against sydney. i remember a lot of articles being written on primus' inability to play well in finals last year, and i cant think of one where he has played particualry well either. feel free to contradict me.

I don't disagree, and I don't think anyone else does, that Tredrea should eventually be captain. He can talk to the media well and is respected by his teammates.
So Primus had an injury year and was not available as an on-field captain last season. That is no reason to hand over the reins. He is still the most motivational leader we have. I agree with Porthos in part, if he has another injury year the captaincy may go to Tredders. But that will be a decision for Port, Primus and Tredders.

Fab captain he will be, but wont wear number 1.... if he does.... i'll get mad..... *ahem*

But give matty a few more goes before you rate him off, one year out is toture to any player let alone a captain. Tredrea will get his chance, i'm sure the club will realise that

Will there be a second vice? who will it be since paco is out?

After winning "best club man" for the last 2 seasons, you'd think it would have to be Josh Carr.
Odds on, given that he is one player I think the club would like to retain.

I for one wouldn't be fussed. Be great to see the little fella walk up and shake hands with Vossy, win the toss, point to the end with the breeze and then just follow him back to the Lions huddle.

Carry turned his poor early season form around I thought. He's a tough little bugger and probably our most hated player behind the Cornes'.

My point exactly. Carr is a great team player, but a leader of men? Gee, I dunno.
always a good point, when hearing about Roo and Carr at the rams, it down graded Roo's captaincy to me anyways. You are more of a man if you walk way...kinda thing...

Who do you think it could be other than Josh? Obviously it has to be a senior player who's likely to keep his spot in the team... Roger? Wakes (;) )? Monty?....

I think we shouldn't have a second VC this year, but have Wangas step in if necessary. Monty next along after him.

I think most of the players with a bit of leadership potential have not as yet established themselves as senior players, but should do so this year.

Wangas doesn't want to be captain. That's why Primus stepped in. Apart from not being on the field all the time with persistent injuries, he felt the additional responsibility was affecting his game.

I don't think there's really anyone who demands a leadership role but if Matty & Treders were sidelined it would have to be one of the Joshes, i'd go Francou but i've never been a great fan of Carr.
