Collingwood is his choice. Yes.
Because you have offered him the most money.
That is a variable that can potentially be changed.
Do you agree that is a possibility?
Let me state this obvious fact for you: players who nominate their preferred destination almost always arrive at their preferred destination, especially now in the era of free agency.
It matters not what variables exist, we can debate them at length, they make no difference to the fact that he has nominated Collingwood. All we need to do is come up with a trade suitable for GWS. As we are his nominated club, GWS have no choice but to deal with us.
Unless GWS and a third club convince Treloar to change his nomination, which I can tell you now is 99.99% unlikely, he will be coming to Collingwood.
Why is it 99.99% unlikely? Because no player manager invests a year in negotiations behind the scenes, nominates a club, then two weeks later changes his mind - that player manager will be risking his own reputation, and will burn bridges with clubs - not in the interests of a player manager, it's a major faux pas.
If Richmond are stupid enough to believe GWS that they still have a chance, and thus expend significant energy trying to lure Treloar, only to find themselves out cold and missing out on other trade opportunities as a result (and there are plenty this year), then so be it. That's their loss, and good on you guys for using a stupid club to force us to pay overs.
