Best two Key defenders in the 2008 draft.

phil davis is better than trengove ..... ;)
Well i dont know much about Davis injury wise but Trengove was injured all of the 2009 season. He has shown this year that he is one of the best young key defenders so given his injury record i think he is better than Davis ;)

Isnt Hurlery a key forward?
He's clearly a defender, first and foremost. Watching the last half dozen games would tell you that. I'm biased but Hurley is clearly the best KPP from that draft.

EDIT: Trengrove really showed something last year and he can also go into the ruck. Port's last few years have been pretty woeful, but I expect finals for them next season.

Hopefully with a new Coach things will change.Williams did nothing from 08-10,glad he is gone.

Edit-Essendon have been woeful both on the feild and in their recruitment under knights.
Now you've got Blair Hartley and James Hird, hopefully that will change for you

Disagree. The last two seasons our recruiting has being good. Not too many sides did better than Hurley, Zaka, Melksham and Colyer from their first two picks.

Pretty much every side had a good 08 draft though except maybe Geelong.
We actually did well out of that draft.

Mitch Brown - broke his leg in his first year, then was kicking bags in the VFL this year till he did his shoulder (or arm?)
Tom Gillies - stagnated a bit this year but looks prmosing as a future fullback
Steven Motlop - very exciting talent who was great in the vfl but did his shoulder in his debut. Will be a good player if his body can hold up.
Taylor Hunt - was impressive in the 7 senior games he played this year, should be gaining regular selection and break into the 22 next year.

Anyway on topic, i think Hurley has more runs on the board at this stage.

Thought we were going to end up with both of them at one stage. Trengove has fantastic athleticism but Hurley is more silky. I'd take Hurley atm, but Trengove will be a good get for an early 20 pick! I love the mongrel in Trengove, real competitor.

I'd take Hurley atm.

Has shown massive talent at either end of the ground since debuting and was physically AFL ready from the day drafted. Trengove was a later starter in comparison and looks pigeon holed into a backline position.

However both play good footy and are KP defenders to watch in the future

Hurley has a lot more polish at the moment, both are/will be terrific but i'm not sure who will be better.

I would have thought Phil Davis is the 2nd best KPP from that draft, well certainly the one with the most potential out of him and Trengove.

Hurley now, but it won't be that clear cut in the future as Trengove will be a terrific player also. As will Phil Davis no doubt.
