Just wanted to get some information on the guy. What type of player he is. How his coming along, what hopes you have for him. What type of player would you compare him too??

Cheers, Justin.

Go Dees!

If you asked anyone on this board this question 6 months ago, majority of people would bag him. However, people have seen the light that he is a bloody good player.

He is a tall (193 cm) KPP who plays like a midfielder and can play at either end of the ground. At this stage of his career he is better suited to the backline. One of only a very small handful of shining lights this year.

He will be a very good player for years to come. I really don't like compating youngsters to other players but he has the potential to have a fantastic AFL career.

To the rest of the "board", I told you so ;):p

Bit early for "I told you so"s, I think.

Hentschel's coming along nicely. But its not like supporters from 15 other clubs really know who he is.

So far he looks like a capable defender and he gives us decent rebound out of the back line. But I wouldn't say he's burst onto the scene.

Still got plenty to prove.

You may be interested to know that as soon as he strays forward of the centre line his brain falls out the back of his head and he doesn't have a clue what he is doing.

Strange phenomenon, that one.

I agree, but the difference between the Hentschell this year to last, is chalk and cheese.
You could almost say he has burst onto the scene.

Rather it should be, if he's anywhere as talented as his brother, we should steer clear of this kid.
and so on and on and on and on :p

DaveW is the only one thats still reluctant to say that Hentschel is in fact better than he first thought. There is still plenty of time :p;)

probably a bit early but you have to agree that he has been by far the best of our youngsters so far this year.

Most consistent of our youngsters and considering he is a KPP thats a BIG plus.

He's not the only one. Dave's post is quite fair and reasonable.

Hentschel has been solid nothing more.

He's done his weekly job ok, but he's no star.

Even you have admitted he has had at least one crap game this year so dont get too carried away.

Does the odd nice thing, gets some nice touches, but in general needs to lift his intensity. Attack on the ball and desperation needs to improve.

Can still be beaten due to his lack of physical strength. Not too flash in one on one contests.

At the moment, he's just a player.

No amount of hype from the club or his fans will convince me otherwise.

Let him play and let that do the talking. That's all he should be judged on.

Yet for Perrie it is the opposite & for Burton it can happen at any time! Go figure...

He's a bit more than just a player though IMO Jerome.

He's a promising player.

While you're right that he has a long way to go still, his star is definitely on the rise.

His first quarter on Reiwoldt did a lot of talking last week - kept him to 2 touches, before Ayres foolishly shifted him onto Kokitschke when Thomas moved him up forard for the 2nd quarter.

His performances have to do the talking, but they're saying the right thing so far.

I think they'll be shouting loudly by the end of the year!!

There is too many of them mate. I did a search and 14 pages of threads came up. Just sorted through a couple and got a handful of quotes.

If i did link every thread BigFooty would shut down because of the overload :p

We've had plenty of promising players. I'm not getting carried away over a few nice touches per game.

The only real stars in our line up for mine are Ricciuto and Johncock. The rest have ranged between poor to fairly solid.

He needs to be a lot harder at it. As for the Riewoldt gig, first quarter OK, by the second Riewoldt was slipping away from him, starting to run around loose. Gary actually made and early move and it wasnt a bad one.

As Dave said he still has plenty to prove.

Some people on here must be very boring in real life because they are always looking for a negative or a condition on a positive

Lets get excited about Trent for gods sake, he is one of the few positives for the year

I am not saying the comments don't have validity but supporting your team is all about gettting carried away over the slightest thing

Fire up boys and girls

I think Hentschell will be a better player than Ben Hart and will play 237 games, four time All Australian, Dual Premeirship Player:D

There were good moments and there were bad moments. Sometimes he just seems totally lost. The first goal to Guerra is a prime example. The ball was kicked to a 2 on 2 marking situation with the two Crows players being Hentschel and McLeod. McLeod predictably stayed down for the spillage and Hentschel had to go for the mark. But he stayed down too and the ball fell in Guerra's lap.

I have some real concerns with what Henstchel does without the ball. When he gets a possession in defense he looks good seems to have time and an awareness of the situation. When the ball is in the air he looks lost and doesn't know where or how to position himself and struggles with his timing. He doesn't attack the ball hard enough and looks timid or unsure of himself.

Hopefully he makes rapid improvement in this area.

It seems a ridiculous thing for me to say considering how little we have seen of both at AFL level but in the one game that Jericho has played I think he has shown more than what Hentschel has in all his games.

Looking forward to seeing a bit more of Jericho (and Hentschel too I suppose).

Jericho has only played 1 game, so hard to make an evaluation of his future just on that. Hentschel has been impressive so far this year, so I agree with Stiffy that he has been our best youngster so far this year - certainlt the main positive we can gain out of the 4 losses so far.
