I doubt it.

Blake will play if King is out injured.

Coming off the bench in the NAB Cup may be a possibility if King/Ottens are both iffy and not risked. Playing against Carlton, and if we win that North/Sydney, there is not much to fear ruck wise.

We will play 2 ruckman every week. King Ottens Blake West in that order. With King and Ottens both injury prone I can see West and Blake teaming up at some stage.

It’s very rare that you see a first year ruckman get games in the ones. Their bodies just aren’t up to it as they generally take more time to develop than smaller players.

The only way I could see West getting a game was if King, Ottens and Blake were all injured at the same time. I think so long as Blake were available it would still be a better 2nd option to use a part time ruckman such as Mooney or Playfair than to play West.

History says the GFC team reluctant to throw the kids in under done.Even with our injuries last year, Prismall was not played. They prefer to give players time to build to the level required, it usually gives them their best chance of being AFL players however there are always exceptions.

Nathan saw game time against the odds, his brother Gary , the Jimmy all were played early. It is however much harder for a tall player. The news today carries a story of a kid Mcintosh drafted in 02,top ten for north, playing well against the Swans in USA. He has only played one game of AFL but is now showing signs that he is ready. Its quoted that he could only bench 40 KG when he arived at the club and now does 145KG. That is what is against him if he plays, strength, weight, experience. This is why Blake would have to be prefered and we would have to be floored with injuries for him to be rucked.

His best chance would be if he showed some form kicking goals, he might be used as a alternate forwardline player, allowing Ottens or King to rest for a week.Young bodys on aircraft are better than old ones.
