I can't believe he's been left out completely, he does have AFL qualities and it seems we've put him out to pasture

I actually thought he was delisted. There isn't anyone on the selected list of 29 that would be behind him IMO. I probably would've said Cook twelve months ago but they're trying something new with him off half back.

I figure we will run a bench of 23 at any point in time, but will give some who play in the sanfl a quarter or so later in the game.

Allow us to manage players like Soligo who i doubt we would want to have a full hit out.

We already know exactly what kind of player he is, and there's likely no development left in him. He's a useful depth option, nothing more. We may as well put time into players who are either first-choice options, or else still have question marks over their ongoing development.

I feel for Ryan, though. He's at the point in his career where he should absolutely be playing a trial match.

If you were selecting a 23rd player for an actual AFL side this week, he would be ahead of Marsh, T. Murray and Edwards. But those players may yet become more than just a depth option. Sholl never will.

I thought for the bits I saw last week Ryan wasn’t too bad.

im all for star players missing this game. means very little. Nicks is simply not a coach who rewards players for form in the Sanfl. So the only way to put your hand up for selection unfortunately is to basically put your name up in lights in trial games. If Dowling, Ryan, Edwards, Taylor cant do it in these games they may as well kiss their AFL hopes good bye ad pray for injuries.
