No wonder clubs complain about inconsistencies at the tribunal!
Tonights appeal saw Jonathan Brown have his appeal reduced from a 3 game suspension to being a free man so he can line up in Round 1.
On Wednesday night the tribunal ruled that Brown's action against Francis had the potential to cause a serious injury. They disagreed with Brown on his statement that there was no intent and that he made every effort to keep his arm in. After watching video evidence the tribunal agreed that Brown moved his elbow from his side to 'search' for contact with Francis, who moved to avoid the collision.
Brisbane appeals even though the tribunals verdict is quite damming. Then we hear that Brown has been let off, 0 matches to serve, reason:
The tribunal now rules that what Brown did on the weekend did not constitute a strike after being given three games for striking.
What made this appeal even more of a joke is that Jason Dunstall represented the Lions to show the tribunal to show them the what a hip and shoulder bump is, please! Dunstall was a great full forward but you can't tell me that he is the best person to show the tribunal how a hip and shoulder is achieved. How often did Dunstall leave the forward line to give a bump.
I must say well done to Brown though, sometimes those who ask stupid questions get stupid answers, this just shows how stupid the tribunal is.
Sign of things to come I think.
