LOL first year anything isn't that hard.

Also do these 'triggered' ****s not realise that normal people don't take this shit seriously?
It would have to be hilarious when employers deal with these people when they enter the workforce.

Gee they're in for a mighty shock when there's generations working with them with entirely different perspectives, political views, values and morals.

LOL. You could genuinely do all 8 first year commerce units in one semester, at least.

did I correctly guess that you did commerce? I'm not sure if you've ever mentioned what you do on here but I always imagined you did something like property valuation

Did you just compare Gough with Margaret Thatcher?

If he hasn't just exploded he will most definitely be triggered.
He can take solace that he'll be referred to as the Iron Man so he is now rich.

Lefty snowflakes need to watch some Bill Maher. I shouldn't call them lefty snowflakes, mind. A lot of their positions aren't actually left wing.

"Democrats have gone from being a party that protects people to a party that protects feelings," Maher bemoaned to his audience. "From, 'Ask not what your country can do for you,' to, 'You owe me an apology.'"

Bill Maher gets it. He's not 'triggered' by people like Milo Yiannopoulos. He'll have him on his show and engage him in discussion, then tell him to get ****ed if needs be. There are so few liberal-lefty-arts student-baristas around at the moment that have anything more to offer than 'I'm offended'. It's a shame.

And here we have a thread that started with an interesting premise that has turned into a post Trumpian rant inside a page and a bit. Well done mate.

Dry your tears. It's not a particularly interesting premise on its own anyway.

University introduces policy. People discuss policy. Tangents develop. Is the discussion supposed to go 'well that's a good initiative' 'no it isn't' 'yes it is' in Pythonesque loop?

The sort of people who think trigger warnings and other nonsense are useful and necessary probably shouldn't be debating their merits in an environment with those who do not.

Do you need some sort of safe space where you won't be challenged?

Honestly i think we are better off putting effort into teaching people resilience. They are starting to do this at schools now, not sure about unis though.

I feel for those that have experienced actual trauma, for which certain topics could be difficult. But i consider this a specific and relatively rare health condition that should be dealt with via health care professionals working with academic staff to come up with an appropriate approach.

I don't understand what makes the vicariously offended tick, it just seems like conformist anti intellectualism to me.

I get triggered by seeing grown men with top knots. Can the AFL put out a warning before Fremantle games?
People watch Freo games?

Go Catters.

I don't fully understand all of this, but i think two main points should stand:

1 The curriculum should not be compromised.
2 Any warnings should have some input from a proper medical authority, and importantly, the warnings should only be made available if you specifically ask for them.

What age should children begin to be taught that the world is violent, cold and completely unapologetic?
If you are planning on them following Freo, as soon as they can crawl.

That is actually an interesting point, sport teaches children about losing, winning and all the greys in between getting to that result.

I'm very curious how much sport features in the lives of those who would advocate trigger warnings over most things.

If you find someone in front of you that is triggered easily, just troll the shit out of them.

As they say, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

This was the moment when people with a brain realised we're dealing with a group of people going full ******...
