No was a joke with Hasselhof as a Freo proofile

On their drafting in the last few years they have basically only had picks after 50 with the Josh Carr bonanza and the Tarrant and Solomon grab

Player for player? With a bloke like Pavlich you wont get that. Maybe in some way the other players sit back and dont work so hard with Pavlich therre so the feeling may be ( hopefully) that Freo will bite the bullet and realise Pav is gone and its time to stock up on draft picks.

With the arrival of Tarrant, this is our best chance ever to pick up Pavlich for a good price.

Griff + 2 first rounders would be enough IMO, as long as we can play hardball

so youre saying to get pavlich we'd have to give up 2 of our young promising ruckmen.. leaving us with only maric to develop and 2 elderly ruckmen.. hmm i dnt think so, how old is pavlich?

We would never trade Griff! He's such a promising player. Plus he looks set to sign a new contract soon :thumbsu::)

leaving up with maric, hudson, biglands and tippett (who looks a more comfortable ruck right now)

fair enough biglands is in his last couple of years, but huddo would still have 3-4 years left in him at least. huddo and maric 1&2 with biggles back up wouldnt be terrible.

not to mention whoever we pick up.

oh yes forgot about tippett.. meesen seems all but gone IMO, we could get a first rounder for him no doubt plus griffin would be willing to go home if given the opportunity.

i believe griffin + 2 first rounders would be fair IMO, however how many good years of footy has pavlich got in him.. if he were to become a crow his best years would occur right through our major rebuilding period which would be wasteful IMO

Yeah we had to give up Sean Wellman who went on to be an extremely accomplished footballer for Essendon. Look I am not saying don't try but I hope our recruiters don't have the blinkers on like some people on this board when it comes to getting him.

with hindsight, I'd give up 23..34567 Sean Wellman's for one darren jarman.

As said earlier in this thread, he has agreed in principal to sign a new contract with the AFC so it looks like he is very happy about staying in Adelaide.

The fact that Griffin and van Berlo have been signed to new contracts has absolutely no bearing on whether they will be used as part of a trade in the future. Hypothetically let's say that van Berlo is out of contract. Fremantle could use this fact as leverage and say we'll give you these magic beans (ie 3rd round pick) for van Berlo and if you don't take it then you risk losing him to whoever has the number one pick in the preseason draft for nothing.

Contracts are simply your insurance policy to protect your assets.

I'm almost certain that the Chris Heffernan rule says you can't trade players on the first year of new contracts?

My god people are struggling to see the point that I made here. I would also do the trade over and over again, my point was you will need to give up someone that could quiet possibly turn out to be a magnificent player for Freo. Would the AFC be prepared to do this? Considering the VB love on these boards (and I am a VB fan) it would be interesting to see the reaction if he was used in a trade for Pavlich.

I didn't know that. There is something about new draftees that they have to be on two year deals. Not sure about being able to trade them after one year.

Would never want to see vB traded. Never.

Never never never never never.

Never. ;)

What a stupid, ridiculous thread.

There is no way that Griffin and VB would be enough to get Pavlich. Pavlich is AA level; VB is a mobile utility/flanker and Griffin is a solid ruckmen. That is like expecting Freo to trade a 50c coin for for two 20c pieces.

There is no way, currently, that Meesen will get us a first round pick. There are too many quality ruckmen in this year's draft. The fact that Meesen hasn't played gives him the air of a bust; teams would rather go with what they hope might turn into something good. Hope beats facts, everyday.

I think this is a cowardly thread, to be honest. Not to point fingers - but I think you're being weak, Stiffy, in saying how much the Crows should get Pavlich and yet never sticking your neck out and saying what you think he's worth. You shoot down other folks for their suggestions, and yet make none of your own.

I think we'll trade Meesen for Carlton's first pick of the second round. I think we will package that pick, our first round and Van Berlo for Pavlich.

Someone stop these Pavlich threads. Please.

He'll sign with Fremantle soon, then this madness will end.

That is what most of us have been saying though, chances are that Meesen will go home and there is no way that we would trade Griff so I think that VB our first DRaft pick and the pick for Meese would net us Pavlich, I know people are up in arms about trading VB but I consider VB to not be hugely different from Kane Johnson and we didnt hesitate sending him home though with Roo, Goody, Edwards in the side you can understand why we felt we could afford it.

As much as i love VB I would use him in a deal for Pav if Pav was waiting to come home and Freo came up with a reasonable deal, unfortunately we dont have much to trade so we are going to have to give up somone of reasonable quality to get Pav.

You can forget about Pavlich then. Some people here have some very short memories, anyone remember the Carey trade? Look what we had to give up there, Freo would want a hell of a lot more and it simply wouldn't be worth it. Freo would want at least two of Griffen, VB or Perrie and probably a first round draft pick to go with it. That would be extremely piss poor list management. I am not anti Pavlich but the cost simply will not justify it.

effectively, we gave up Kane Johnson, pick 14 & pick 45
in return for Carey and Torney

After trading away most of their draft picks to have a shot at the 2007 flag - () - if Pav is to leave - Freo will not want players in exchange - they are going to want draft picks - and damn early ones - something it appears we won't have.

The only way IMO we will have a crack at getting him is by trading players to Melbourne Clubs for good draft picks to onpass to Freo.
