Not wishing to intrude on DOC's turf, but it's 3.30 am and an insomniac has to do what an insomniac has to do.

1. a) Who was the recruit who featured on the back page of the Herald-Sun in the early 90s, with a picture and article about how his breakfast consisted of 14 weet bix with a litre of milk, eaten out of a saucepan?
b) How many games did he play with North Melbourne?

2. When was the last time Wayne Carey played in the reserves?

3. a) Who is the only player to be captain, best and fairest and leading goalkicker in the same year?
b) What year(s)?

4. Which former Footscray defender did North Melbourne recruit with its first pick in the 1993 pre-season draft (number 8 overall)?

5. In which year did the club first award its annual Best and Fairest award?

6. Eight North Melbourne players have kicked 10 goals in a match. Name them :)

7. Who was the North ruckman that wore number 34 in the early 1990s?

8. In the second last round of 1990 North played St.Kilda with John Longmire needing 6 goals to register his century. Which player bobbed up for 8 goals that night?

9. Which player, recruited from another club, had a 39-possession game for North Melbourne in 1991?

10**. What club goalkicking record did Wayne Carey break in Round 7 against Collingwood, when he kicked his 4th for the day (and the 649th of his career)?

** Super extra hard question ;)

Good luck peoples, and don't make a dickhead of me by answering Q.10 correctly on your first attempt!

I'll have a go:

1: I know it was one of two so I hope I don't pick the wrong one.

Damian Murray (2 games)

2: 1989

3: Carey 96 &98(?)

4: Greg Eppulston

5: 1937

6: Spencer, Carey, Longmire, Kekovich, Good, McAdam, Glendinning,Blight.

7: Michael Gallagher

8: John McCarthy. Carey kicked 6 but Johnny could only manage 4.

9: Real guess. Carl Dilena

10. Don't know but I'll go for ; Most goals by a North player against Collingwood.

Still no clue about 2 & 10 but I'll have another go at 7. Steve Venner?

PS. Raelly pleased with the Carl Dilena answer. Dragged that up from the dark reaches! I remembered him playing a "stunner" but not doing much else in his 10 or so games for the Roos.

Well,

Let me have a crack here :

2. The King I think played Ressies in 1994, a Round when we had the Bye & he was coming back from suspension, I think agst Sydney Round 15 maybe(?).
Before that I think he kick the dew off the ground out at Windy Hill in 1990 agst Essendon.

7. #34 Mark Hepburn (?)

Very good - correct on both counts regarding question 2 (it was Round 16, 1994 vs the Swans in the VSFL). The previous reserves game in 1990 was the last time the King was dropped. he responded by kicking 7 against the Swans when he returned to the seniors the following week.

Question 7 also correct. Although I had Mark Hepburn in mind when asking the question, I would have also accepted Andrew Venner (0 senior games), Damian Murray (2 games) or Stephen Zamykal (0 games) who all wore the number between 1991 and 1993.

Still waiting on an answer to Question 10, and I have a feeling some people might want to throw things at me when I tell them the answer. :)

At the risk of sounding ridiculous, i am going to take a wild stab in the dark at number 10.

Carey set the record for most career goals by a 'Roos player

And the winner is...

LEIA !!!

Wayne Carey, when kicking his 649th goal, broke the club goalkicking he previously set with his 648th...

Ok, everyone wanting to throw stuff at me, form an orderly queue behind DOC... and if its stubbies or cans, please make sure they're full. :D
