It's the largest discrepancy between two opening batsmen's scores (354 runs) but I get the feeling that's not the answer.
No, this IS the answer.

Well done.

Next on the Test list is 352, (Hutton 364 - Edrich 12), England vs Australia 1938.

There have been 7 higher instances in first-class, cricket, the highest being 467, when Hanif scored his 499 and his opening partner 32.

Some years ago when Glenn Mitchell was with the ABC he used to have a daily quiz.

I actually won it one day for this question:

Who is the odd one out and why?
Allan Border, Kerry O'Keefe, Stave Waugh and Ricky Ponting?
Ponting's the only one to have taken less than 50 international wickets?

Gee, there's any number of them I would imagine.

I'll have a guess - O'Keefe is the only one to open for Australia in a test match.

Allan Border: he did not play any county cricket for Somerset. (I will confess I remember this question being broadcast)

This is potentially the case with every question. For instance my answer to your Aus v Zim question stands. It was the only occasion where two batsman each hit a ton in the same session.

What does Chris Old have in common with Dennis Lillee, Rod Marsh and Greg Chappell?

I was at the MCG in 05 for the Hussey/McGrath partnership, probably one of the better moments I've seen live. Recalling that made me instantly think Pidge would hold some sort of record like this!

Cricinfo tells me Nathan Astle (with Morrison and Cairns).
Brilliant partnership.

Here's 3

What do Mark Waugh and Harbajan Singh have in common?

Fastest (no. of matches) to 50 test wickets. Warne, Macgill, Hauritz or Lyon?

the list of the 10 fastest double hundreds contains Virender Sehwag 5 times, Name the other 5.

1) Have both opened the bowling at Lords?
2) Macgill??

I'm going to say MacGill for fastest to 50 wickets, too.

For double hundreds, and this is off the top of my head, I'm going for Gilchrist and Ian Botham.
