1) Have both opened the bowling at Lords?
2) Macgill??

Seems like everyone got magilla, and the order was macgill, hauritz, Warne and Lyon for those playing at home.

And also eth-dog got it bang on with the double tonnes.

That was the correct answer to the Waugh and harbajan question, but I asked my brother and he says there is one more (harder) similarity that I wasn't aware of, so ill leave that one out there

The problem with 'What have they got in common' type questions is there is no right answer. You have one in mind - but they also have the same number of legs, for example, Both can be complete d!cks on occasions. Both have avid fan bases and just as many serious detractors.

Same goes for 'odd one out' style questions. Better to stick to questions that have a single factual answer.

The problem is trying to find a question you can ask that people just can't look up the answer for in a flash.

Here's one - I've asked it before so if you remember don't answer - at least straight away.

Which Test cricketer legally added as a third Christian name the surname of his favourite singer?

Bob Willis added Dylan to his name in appreciation of Bob Dylan. The answer to my question which seems to have been overlooked is that Old, Lillee, Marsh and Chappell all played in both Centenary Tests in 1977 and 1980. So there.

Sorry, I missed that one. :(

And, yes, you are correct about R G D Willis. :thumbsu:

the other harbajan and waugh similarity is that they both have 41 test sixes, i would never have picked it. But I asked my brother and that's the answer he gave, turns out its true

True. The internet takes a fair bit of the fun out of these, now. You get reduced to asking about strange occupations, or 'who said these' of dubious authenticity.

A quick, well-known one - which Test cricketer also won the Margary Medal? Yes, you could look it up...........................

a ton in his first, first class match along with a wicket with his first ball in first class cricket!!

No idea.

I can only think of two Test cricketers who played SANFL - Eric Freeman and Neil Hawke. Not sure if either of them were good enough to win a Magarey.

OKay - that's 3 guesses (Sherbx2 and Gough). To save you looking it up:

Victor Richardson. 1920. While captain-coach of Glenelg.

Not a bad sport all round. he also won the SA Open in Tennis, and played state level in baseball and golf, as well as cricket and footy.

Would have never got that one.

Thanks.

Neil Hawke was a pretty good footballer from memory, I thought he may have been a show. Very sad what happened to him, ate something innocuous, got a bowel blockage or twist as a result, and had years and years of terrible health because of it until he finally passed.

I remember he actually played a bit of cricket in Tassie too. About the time I was growing up there.

Which World Cup winner made his first class debut for Essex in 1962?

Sir Geoff Hurst, still the only player to score a hat trick in a World Cup final. Wasn't his first class debut for Essex also his only game? I think he scored 0 and 0 not out.

Would it surprise people how late it was?
Well, it's obviously a bit surprising at first sight. I was fairly sure I knew when it happened, and I admit I did a quick Cricinfo check.

The first Australian Test team - March 1877 contained (by birth) 5 Australians, 4 Englishmen, an Irishman, and Bransby Boooper, born in India.
The star performers for Australia ion that Test were Charles Bannerman (born in England), Tom Kendall (England), and Billy Midwinter (England).

Who is the only Australian batsman to have batted on every day of a Test Match?

I thought there had been 2 - Boycott and Jaisimha (?).
What Tests were they can you verify? Just checked, yeah Boycs was one, maybe the question should be the Australian who has done it.
