Bollocks! My source book of trivia was published in 2002!

I was unaware of the Hamilton test, but should have remembered Capetown.

It's surprising given some of the thrashings in the early years that the first incidence was only in 2000.

Moving on from the second day of the second Test of the England vs West Indies series of 2000, what unique occurrence happened on the second day of the third Test of that series? (specifically for England)

Is it two batsmen on the same team both batting in their 100th test? On the same day that the Queen mother celebrated her 100th birthday?

Close enough. The three centurion acheivements I was looking for were that Alec Stewart scored a century in his 100th Test on the same day that the Queen mother celebrated her 100th birthday.

Atherton's 100th test also, but he didn't do so well.

I should know this because there is a chapter dedicated to him in Wisden Great Performances of the 80s that I have. But no idea.

I'll have a stab and say he was the only bowler to finish with more wickets than runs.

No sir, that is not the required answer.
The answer is related to his bowling only. If you glance through the bowling stats in the First Class Records section in any recent Wisden, you might see what prompted me to pose this question.

Something to do with him f***ing us over twice in the Ashes that year, and then performing at a sub Neil Foster level for the rest of his career?

Without Googling anything I'll take a stab and say he was the only Englishman to top the bowling averages between those seasons ?!

He was a fair player was RM Ellison, but another mid-80's player whose career was cut short by a rampaging West Indian unit.

I've got a 1985 Wisden in the dunny with Ricardo's picture on the cover. From memory he took exactly 100 first class wickets that season. I'll check when I get home.

Correct. The only Pom to top the bowling averages during those seasons.
