I don't mind people if they argue in good faith even I don't agree with them. But the deliberate shit stirring to get a reaction can take a hike.

By the same token some people overreact to minor slights, jokes and so on.

Trolls can be a lot of fun provided they don't hammer down on old and repetitive jokes, or go for personal attacks. If it's harmless fun then I don't see the problem.

For example Lance’s “Hawthorn 3 peat - an accident of history” and Dan26s “Ranking of Premiers”. These deserve acknowledgement as master trolling work.

Trolls say things they don’t believe in order to get a response and wreck things.

They also amp up the worst parts of things they might actually believe in order to wreck things.

They are insincere, and not looking for a discussion or to take part in a conversation. They are there to ruin the conversation.

So TBH I say fu** them.

Often times here they are just idiots who do believe in what they're saying, and feel the need to argue their unpopular opinions or tonedeaf inappropriate comments into the ground.

The problem comes and the lines blur when "good" posters get inadvertently "suckered in" to firing back, and end up dying on a hill that wasn't really worth fighting for in the first place.

The key is simply to not engage, whether they're misguided or genuinely chucking out bait.

I just love it when people spout off about things they have nfi about.
