Reading reports that Troy Chaplin (and Boak) have told Port they are out of there.

Wanted to concentrate on Chaplin though. Given the imminent departure of the experienced Fletcher, and the questionable formlines of Cale Hooker and Tayte Pears, I believe we should be making a play for the 26 year old. He is a Free Agent I believe, and can play on the big forwards.

At the right price, I see he could be a good pick up for the club.

Also, he is a Maryborough boy so maybe Crameri can get in his ear and influence him.

Anyone else?

If we gonna throw the kitchen sink at someone make it boak. Will compliment our mids nicely. For the record chaplin more often than not plays the fletcher role its alipate thats takes the big guys so im not really sure how he goes as a pure stopper.
Im ready to leave young jake on his own just yet, besides with gumby up and running crameri and ryder I see no reason for Hurley not to be played down back.

Just out of curiosity what could we offer to port for boak? I know there is almost zero chance of it happening and they will want picks more than players how could we get it done.

We have a Plethora of CHB style players I cant see that being a need which would cost us someone decent in itself, a waste of time that doesnt help our current cause...

Middy's we need Middy's and the more we get the better Hooker, Pears and Carlisle will be.

We wont beat Cats offer as they have that extra Compo pick to give up and our first round pick will be used on JD.
He will also hurt our salary cap and I dont think he is that great, he's no Judd. For much cheaper value we can get a Sylvia or as many of us hope a Josh Caddy.

Incidentally how his Seb Ross going at Saints? Is he injured, is he doing well in VFL? who is a Josh Kennedy that is being under utilized at another club yet has the talent if given opportunity.

Carlisle and Trengove are the KPDs at Port, Chaplin plays the Fletcher/Maxwell/Gibson type role though turns the ball over far more than 2 of the 3 above (Gibson would have to do something other than spoil to turn the ball over).

Do not want.

I think he is a little underrated on here.

Yes, he is prone to the odd turnover but we've lived with guys like Hardingham, Dempsey and Hooker. Would be a good replacement for Fletcher to take the spot of the third tall with Carlisle and Pears/Hooker being our other two key defenders.

Not sure how much he will cost but if he came cheap it would be hard to say no.

Oh BigFooty.

If you're not a superstar, you're a spud.
Not at all, and is not what I was implying. BtG made a good point that IF we traded Hooker or Pears he may add some value. We do not have the depth in our KPDs to trade one away and not replace them.

My comment was based on what we have now. If we retain all of Hooker, Pears, Carlisle, and with the prospect of Hurley being a backman if Gumby stays fit and Crameri/JD/Ryder down forward then I do not want.
