Certainly hope that's the case. Have not heard anything though, maybe someone on the Adelaide or Port boards has more info.
Was reading adelaidenow and they said he is going in for scans today or tomorrow but they have sine deleted the article

"Menzel was injured playing for SANFL club Central Districts and has been booked in to have both knees scanned.
Results could be known as soon as today."

I want two Menzels! If he slips down the order get him and give him a traditional reco. The knee should be stronger for it.
I heard Balmey talking after Dan had done his good knee earlier this year, and he was saying that the doc was talking about how his knees will be stronger for having had the reco's. I know knees can be quite complex, but there's a chance it could be like Vardy's injury where he basically needed to have something corrected and hopefully it won't be an issue in the future, in which case, it's good that he and Troy will have both knees worked on at a young age.

I don't think this would scare Wells off too much. If he wasn't a guy to take risks we would not have Selwood, and although it didn't work out, he also went after Marcus Drum despite his ongoing injury concerns. Obviously the recruiters will know a lot more about his medical situation than us, but I think he's worth an educated risk.

Just think if we had that mindset in the 2006 draft we wouldn't have our current skipper
Selwood had his half way through the year, and was ready to do a preseason when selected.. Menzel has done 2 knees and won't be ready if at all until well into middle to end of year.
Not quite the same risk factor!!

Classic heart versus head - and I, for one, am a sentimental bastard!

I think the club will be all head though - as they should be.

Having said that, would take him with a later pick.
There will be plenty of fit talent around our first pick.
We need to get the draft and trades right this year,as in the next few years all our 2007 champs will be gone.

Will be interesting to find out the truth in regards to Troys recent knee injury. Many jumped to the conclusion if another ACL and understandably but now rumblings are surfacing it was just a medial strain.

Maybe the Cats told him to bung it on, to lower his draft value, hence giving him the chance to play with his brother. ;)

From @KristianPisano on Twitter:

How does this change things for the people who wouldnt take the risk at 15? No second reco, so he will be able to do preseason, but the obvious worry bout hurting it again still there. I think this works in our favour if we want him, will throw doubt into the minds of other clubs for sure with higher picks. I hope we get him, special talent, no doubt a risk, but if he stays healthy we get the next SJ potentially.

I'm sure all the medico's will check it out thoroughly.
Still think 1st rd pick to much but will leave it to Wells and Co.

Interestingly the report stresses that both Troy's knee injuries were "impact" injuries, unlike Daniel's. Make of it what you will.
On the balance of evidence I say go get him.

This may work to our advantage, the scare may put some off. He will be unavailable for the combine so there is a very good chance of him being there at 15. Jump or not to jump. As I said before its Judd, Selwood, Varcoe but to be fair its a risk. Its a choice of how much risk / reward we can handle.
We have to take risks as we have done in the past. It's kind of a Wells special...Top 10 player with manageable injury concern for late 1st Rd pick. I think the familial connection must be a bonus.

It's good news for Troy compared to an ACL but he'll still slide as he'll be out for a while and probably won't be able to do physical testing at the combine you'd assume. Would be a good chance to get to 15.

Hasn't changed much for me, I still thought it was too big a risk relative to the talent likely to be there at 15, and I haven't changed now. I'm also of the mind that we really need to address our midfield at the draft now, so while I think Troy will be a gun, that's probably not the way I'd go. Having said that if we got a midfielder like Caddy or Stevens in the trade period, then I'd be more open to looking at Troy in the first round.

Do you reckon pick 15 to GC for 2x20's picks is a reality? Pick up Menzel for the new pick 20, and Gysberts for pick 25. Stevens then for 36.

I thought GC only had one 20's pick, 25? Or did they activate one of their compo picks as well?

In any case, yes some sort of deal like that is something we might consider, after all we did it last year.

I'm probably wrong about that. Just thought I saw it somewhere, but maybe not.

Pick up , someone under rated/ someone who has slipped ie Menzel, Towers or Wright and Gysberts>pick 25, Stevens>36. , elevate Walker and S******* , and thats a pretty good draft.Really set us up for the future.

Not sure how we would do it , but be good. Can we squeeze Caddy in there somewhere and it really is starting to warm up

Considering our last couple of drafts, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see something like this happen. Pick up a slider or a bolter early in the second round. Make pick 15 really work for us.

Selwood did not have an ACL reconstruction.
Let's compare apples with apples.
What he had was serious enough to put many teams off, to our benefit, but was NOT ACL.
