Crows don't have a pick before us and in any case, may not have any picks at all thanks to KTippett.
Port currently have pick 7 - wouldn't surprise me if they nab him there. They've had issues retaining interstate players so the fact he's a SA boy would definitely add appeal.
GWS also have five selections before us so could see Menzel as a bit of a risk free pick - select him, put him in for surgery and rule him out for 2013 (this was discussed on SEN today, in terms of giving his LARS knee a traditional reconstruction) knowing they still have a host of young kids ready to go next year.
I really, really hope Troy is there at pick 16 but I think it's unlikely. At least Hawthorn or Collingwood won't get him either.

I couldn't think of anything worse than Hawthorn or Collingwood getting him. I wouldn't be surprised if Port go for him.

I'd love to get him, so hard to predict how far he will drop with the knees etc, it's the big unknown of the first round of the draft.

If either of Stringer or Menzel are available at 16, no one else will come into calculations IMO. What would be interesting is to see who Wells picks is both are available. Huge dilemma. Unlikely to happen, but would also raise valid debate about activation/use of our compo pick/Caddy. Hindsight is wonderful. Fwiw, I'm rapt with the Caddy deal.

I'll be very happy if we get Troy Menzel, he is likened to Stevie J (Which Daniel Menzel is too). Imagine a forward line of the Menzel brothers, Varcoe, Hawkins and Stevie J, wow!!!

My thoughts Turbo. If some clubs are a tad gun-shy due to the leg injury history and Troy slips down the order the Maggies have 18, 19 and 21 to play with.
There was a piece in the Hun concerning how well clubs have handled things so far and the Maggies didn't rate overly well. For mine they've done exceptionally well picking up three more than useful mature age recruits and retained some very useful picks as well. They still need a back-up for Jolly though.

Just watched the video interview with Troy and he gave a hint that he wants to go to Geelong. Hope it throws a few clubs off him and he falls to us!
