Technical is a drop from 7th to 8th post the pannell news.
It was a weird post to start with and it was wrong.
I didn’t fact check when was the first date of headline regarding Panell, it could have been even earlier over in Victoria for all we know.
The fact is, that the Dogs were crap back in April, and the news that I recall started in early May. So they did rise up the ladder “around the time of the reports” (they were 12th back in April).

Bont didn't play till round 6 which would be a better indicator of their turn around.

Does the AFL's Integrity Unit actually exist?

Or is it like those searching internal reviews Chappy insisted we were constantly undertaking?

I would be fairly confident that they kept an eye on him and he was quietly removed from the game.

Surely we would not be shocked if it eventually comes out that some of the umps are / were corrupt?

It happens in most leagues.

I remember listening to the podcast about the NBA ref that was on the take:

and that he had claimed the league were also corrupt -

“The document claimed that Donaghy told federal agents that to increase television ratings and ticket sales, "top executives of the NBA sought to manipulate games using referees. Tim knew Referees A and F to be 'company men', always acting in the interest of the NBA, and that night, it was in the NBA's interest to add another game to the series. The Lakers won Game 6, attempting 18 more free throws than the Kings in the fourth quarter, and went on to win the 2002 NBA Finals.”

… and thinking, do we really think that the AFL would be above this type of manipulation? I would not be surprised.

What we see and hear as being the 'rule of the week' could be founded in HQ manipulation. To directly engage with umpires would seem a step too far for me. But, there would be teams and players that do certain things that are on the edge of the rules, that you could make paying frees or 50s the focus of the week and because it's applied across the entire round, it wouldn't look like it was influencing a particular game.

Stolen from the first Jack Reacher movie. And for once Vader was right, Tom Cruise should not have been allowed to cast himself as Reacher. Didn't realise that until the series came out.

The probability of getting 17 heads out of 18 coin tosses using an on-line Coin Flip Probability Calculator (!) is 1 in 14,564

Not exactly the same thing as free kicks but gives you an idea of the extreme improbability of 17/18 frees to the Dogs without umpire bias.

Except that there is also a third option, no free kick.

I think that would make the odds even lower

The initial post was meant to be tongue in cheek, and a heavy dig at Pannell. It was never meant to be a heavy analysis as to why the Dogs have turned it around since April.

The usual gang of cyber beaters can’t see through this, but they’re beating up on a person who is a Pannell beater, instead of focusing on what this thread is all about - Pannell beating.

What a pity with so many footy "journalists" these days no one is taking a closer look at this.
Yeah, this is a really good call. How is someone not running with this more (even outside of the footy media).

Speaks volumes that a made up story about NWM not coming to the Crows because of Tex get's more traction and air time than a legitimate news story like this.

Kane McGoodwin loves the crows and has an axe?
I don't ride a motorbike nor been in jail though...

But I do have an infamous axe story which I was reminded at last Mothers Day... where I accidentally split my sisters head open with the back of an axe.. which my Dad gave me when I was around 5ish years old & my sister came up from behind me & hit her by accident on my Uncle's farm at Reidy Creek in the South East. My sister dined off this story for years telling all her friends that I attacked her with an axe...
