Looks like he is leaving brisbane and coming to Victoria. He is out of contract. From the age and the herald sun Collingwood may offer a second round selection or let him slip through to the preseason draft where they could get him for nothing. The Saints may also offer a second round pick. I have been pretty impressed with this kid and reckon he could slot in nicely into the young hawthorn midfield. Realistically what would hawthorn be willing to offer the kid keeping in mind he also has a younger brother developing who will be available in the draft in coming years? Maybe a second round draft pick + a player?

Spose it'll depend on who else is available in the PSD. Hopefully he will slip to 3. Can't think of anyone Carlton or Collingwood chose before him off the top of my head.

Maybe Lappin to Collingwood?
Camporeale will be Essendon.

I heard Rodan wants out of Richmond but is he contracted?

Sorry grendal, but I think rodan would be good for the hawks, still young , tough, probably a bit slow like mitchell, but has good skill, uncanny around goals, and would be a senior player straight up. Crawford coming towards the end ( he is no crawford) and has better skills than ries, and we need depth.
Get him for nothing, take him, but if selwood is available, take him first. But Rodan definately has value. Come on Grendal, what is wrong with him? we have a young team now, we need experience and strong bodies, he definately has the goods! no champion, but has credentials to be a fair player

Doesn't get enough of the ball midfield, skills.. average, small and slow (and we're covered there), coming off a knee reco so his one good attribute of being pretty nimble might be affected. Hasn't/didn't cement a place in a very poor side prior to his knee injury either and if he was good enough then, he should have done so.

He'd be surplus imo and unlikely to make it, that's why I would hope we wouldn't be looking at taking him in the psd.

I really think the Hawks should chase a big name in the psd, Surely they should have room in salary cap now hay has gone, If serious about improving, they need to be pro-active, not inactive this year!

Who do you reckon we should go for? I agree, maybe one more mature type player would be handy to help out the kids. I think any club that even condiders drafting Campo has got rocks in their head

Don't agree mate, you need experience, and campo is a gun! may not be there long term, but short term he would be great! who knows, he may be like harvey and have 3 -4 years left, and by then the hawks will be the guns of the afl! :thumbsu:

I'd prefer Matty Lappin the Campo... but Selwood in Charman in front of them.

Lappin would be the goal sneak we haven't had for a long time. Yes I know Williams is a small forward but he's a leading forward. Lappin is a silky player with great finishing ability.

I'm all for the youth policy but in the PSD everyone is fair game.

Yeah definitely Lappin ahead of Campo...I wouldn't mind picking up Lappin actually. Probably get a couple years out of him and, as you say, would be very handy around goals

I believe that Selwood is the only worthwhile player to take in PSD. McLaren is an option but I think it is time the Hawks started trying to develop our own ruckmen.

Unfortunately I can't see him slipping through to #3, not unless there are clear standouts for the Blues or Pies to pick or they both decide to forego their PSD picks for whatever reason.

Are there any other possible options other than those mentioned in this thread?

As in the main National Draft?

Out of interest:

Would we be looking at Lappin in the PSD, or will he be too expensive/old? Surely we could afford him, and a bit of experience in the forward line couldnt hurt....

Id take him over everyone else in there...

Wouldn't be bad picking up a player like Lappin in the PSD. Just to add some skill and experience in the team. Not a long term plan, but we can still look after the short term a little whilst building for the future.

Think you'll find Lappin will re-sign with Carlton in the coming weeks. It's not the money so much, but the length of the deal. Now that we've got some money to play with, i'd imagine we'd throw a bit more at Lappin and still offer 2 years.

As for Selwood, if he's in the PSD, i'd imagine that Carlton would pick him up with their no. 1 pick.

Your kidding right?

Just the sort of fool we do NOT need at Hawthorn. Experience, he can teach the guys to run into a drycleaners when drunk and grab clothes so they can get into the casino or jump into someones car and demand to be taken to the casino or .....
The idea in 2006 is to give our kids the experience in playing in the big league not to waste our time on hasbeens.

can't believe the attraction to selwood.

the guy cant kick over a jam jar, lucky if he can kick 40 metres. he isnt quick although he does have courage and coconuts.

reckon he will be struggling to hold his place on an AFL list in a few years.

4 mine its a BIG PASS on selwood. not like anything we need at the hawks.
