Ya dunno know what your missing........great game. I've tried my best to master it but unfortunately
it takes a lot of balls to play golf like I do.
Used to play in my younger day and went to a few tournaments in Adelaide and Sydney and watched it on TV but I just can't get into the last 15-20 years. Sort of doesn't matter to me until the back 9 of day 4 of a major and 3 or 4 are fighting for the win.

Interesting listening on Tracey Holmes program The Ticket on ABC News radio about paralympic sports and the cheating involved, both doping and of the classification system to get into an easier group. People turning a blind eye and human nature of win at all costs not eliminated by having a disability. The will to survive and too win is deep within humans psychI. Ridiculous that athletes have clauses in their contracts that they can't talk about the classification system publicly. Ie can't debate the process of the international classification system even if it is flawed and you can see athletes are gaming the system.

A lot of whistleblowers some putting their name to revelations some not and having their voice distorted suggests big changes will have to be made after a decent official investigation.

Went to a work Xmas party at a pub last night. Thought I'd take knowledge gained from this site and asked if they had Pirate Life beer. The barman gave me their Pale Ale and firstly it was a nice drop but secondly it packed quite a kick. Turns out it has a higher alcohol content than most so if you use West End as a base at 4.5% the Pirate Life Pale Ale is 5.4%, and I did notice that. Anyway it was fun going up to the bar after that and ordering by going "It's the Pirate Life for me." Lucky I didn't wake up this morning on a barque 100km off the coast of Jamaica.

My favourite, probably everybody's favourite, was Spain’s 2000 Paralympics team. Per Sports' 10 Greatest Cheaters:
"Right in the middle of baseball's Steroid Era, when sports officials had fixed a watchful eye on athletes attempting to dope for an advantage, the Spanish Federation tried instead to sneak able-bodied athletes into the Paralympics in order to "win medals and gain more sponsorship," according to Federation President Fernando Martin Vicente. The Sydney Paralympics was only the second time during which athletes with intellectual disabilities (having an IQ of under 70) were allowed to compete in the events, and after testing it was determined that 10 of the 12 members of Spain's basketball team, as well as members of the swimming, track, and table tennis teams, were ineligible to participate. The whole team was disqualified and forced to return their medals, and Martin Vicente resigned in disgrace after accepting responsibility."

I had lunch with some wine company reps at the Port Dock brewery back in the late 80's, we were all seasoned drinkers but by the 4th round were on the verge of becoming gibbering wrecks.
We were drinking pints of a brew of theirs called Old Preacher, which we found out later had an alcohol content of more than 11% and we had consumed the equivalent of about 10 pints of Coopers. o_O

an important stat is that melbourne averages only 602mm of rainfall a year which isn't very much.

to put that into perspective, queenstown in tasmania averages 2400mm. innisfail in qld averages 3600mm.

melrose, in the dreary old mid north of south australia averages 550mm.

another important rainfall myth is that its always wet and miserable in london. i will shatter that myth tonight by revealing that london averages only 601mm per year.
London is like drizzle and damp wet very often, it doesn't have mass storms like a lot of places so it's total is accrued over lots of small rains, half of which wouldn't even effect measures.

Once a few mates and I went to the Silverton pub 20ks out of town, for a hotdog and a beer and there was a huge unexpected storm that caused flash flooding, so we got rained in at the pub in the middle of nowhere. It was a great day.

Then the driver ruined it by deciding to try and get away during a dry bit so we had to go, it started raining again straight away and we got stranded on a 100m stretch of road between two floodways as the second wind came down for another four hours.

They can cut you off for skulling? Is that a thing?
The members at the cricket was absolute knob central yesterday. By the evening it started getting pretty loose in the Peter Carey bar. SMA'S solution? You could only buy 2 beers at a time instead of 4. ******* geniuses

In Melbourne for the week. Has been pissing down since i arrived and am drinking a crown lager. The full experience.
If it's any consolation I'm in Darwin for the weekend and it's raining here too. Thought of having a VB for old times sake but settled on a Coopers Pale Ale or three instead. Wasn't a bad breakfast.

My friend has the Sony A7, and it's a fantastic camera. I think in terms of mirrorless Sony is very much on top of the game. So wouldn't doubt the A7Riii to be a beast model.

Haven't had a look at that model. Used the a7sii on some shoots. But I'm more involved in film than photos.

Good camera in low light. Having said that I've seen plenty of people make shit with great cameras and people make good stuff on entirely obsolete equipment.

Cameras now are so so overpriced for something that becomes obsolete in less than two years.

I mean ******* $4000? Before you drop $1000s on lenses.

I've still got my rx100 original from yonks back that I paid 500 for lol

My advice. Unless your ******* minted or that $4000 camera is gonna get you paid work don't bother. Most dslrs are bought by wankers that want the newest best stuff but don't do shit. If you just wanna take nice pics by something a qtr of the price.

Oh for sure, my D750 is still a solid camera. I’d be paying a lot more for fractional improvement.

However I’ve made a fair bit of money on cryptocurrency the last few months so **** it why not.

Landscape photography gives me much enjoyment so I can justify the price to myself.

But fundamentally I completely agree with you

that original old preacher brew was absolutely lethal. fell asleep on a bus after that sometime in the 1980s and woke up with no bloody idea where I was
