Three earthquakes have been recorded in less than two days around the outback mining city of Broken Hill.

A 2.6-magnitude earthquake struck the region just before midnight on Friday, followed by a 4.1-magnitude quake at 2.50pm on Saturday and a 3.3-magnitude tremor at 5.30am today.

A senior seismologist says it is likely the three quakes are unrelated.

Earthquakes every day at 6:45 with the blasting anyway, more than mother nature could do. When we were filming Wake In Fright across from the mines, they went off and the ground shook and all the out of towners and city people from away looked like they cacked their dacks and thought the world was ending! Mate that's just life in the yabba. Thought they were about to ask for a trauma counsellor!
