60 sportspeople have penned a letter asking for a rc?

Did these *wits learn nothing from Hollywood? Just because you can hit a ball or act doesnt mean anybody gives a flying * about your political views.

I would be interested in knowing who engineered that letter? I suspect the Murdoch Muppets organised it so they could plaster the news on the front page of their rag.

It is pushing the limits of credibility to expect us to believe that 60 prominent sportspeople all had the same idea at the same moment in time.

The cost of a Royal Commission is 150 million plus and the taxpayer will bear the cost of that.

Inside News Corp’s backfired ‘UNDERCOVERJEW’ operation

The Daily Telegraph planned a story featuring an ‘undercover Jewish man’ using covert recording eyewear. CCTV footage shows it didn’t go as planned.

A News Corp operation sending an “undercover Jewish man” to a popular Egyptian cafe this week backfired when staff called the police following an altercation with Daily Telegraph journalists.
Internal files seen by Crikey show the outlet planned to use covert video-recording eyewear in the making of the story, which it internally named “UNDERCOVERJEW” and sketched out a week in advance.

A royal commission will do nothing. It will have recommendations of which none will be implemented. The issue isnt the commission itself, its the ****ing governments that are meant to implement anything. This isnt unique to Albos piss blasting government though.

Any result from the royal comm would just be censured anyway because anything in there that says islam, jews or whatever else has a problem will be deemed too heinous to see the light of day. No one ever wants to confront truth in the face of faux outrage.

Any recommendation that targets a religious group will be met with hand wringing and buried. The only things ever passed will be "we will jail anyone who says something percieved as mean to someone or a group." then i'll be off to jail for posting a meme.
Pretty much it. Arts students love their 'Israel is worse than Hitler, Putin, Stalin and Mao combined' protests, but actual terrorist attacks against Jews, it's not the Hindu's, Buddhists or Zoroastrians trying to kill Jewish people (or responsible for most (not all) of the terrorist attacks across the world). As if Albanese is going to let a RC say 'Yeah, not all Muslims are terrorists, or even a majority, BUT you're more likely to be a terrorist if a Muslim then if you belong to any other religion, so we really should be screening those who are Muslim much more strongly either immigrating here, or ensuring aren't radicalised if already here'. It'll be, lets be nice to each other, a few token events and anti-mean words laws, as if that'll do anything.

The only real action they're willing to take that'll have an effect is the tightening of gun laws, and that's already in the works without spending millions.

The one in general with Royal commissions, is as noted they generally boil down to 'spend more money'. Recommendations require new staff, new facilities, new training, new etc. etc. that all cost. Nearly all the recommendations they come up with were known about (Aged Care, Domestic violence etc.), but not done because they cost money. All RC's have done is applied enough political pressure that governments go 'My god, how profound! If we spend more on this area we've studiously avoided at all costs, things will get better! Have a few million for us never noticing saying no to all those previous requests was a mistake'.

Didn't the royal Commission in to indigenous deaths in custody find that deaths in custody rates of indigenous to non indigenous were pretty much equal, but here's a list of 80 odd things to implement anyway to address it?

And none of them have been implemented anyway?

Does anyone remember the recommendations from the Royal Commissions the Liberal governments of the time held into the Port Arthur Massacre (John Howard PM) and the Lindt Cafe Seige (Tony Abbott PM)?

Nope

Credit where it's due to little Johnny on the pretty much immediate gun reform though

No one remembers the recommendations from those RC's because they were never held.

What's so different about Bondi that we've got the Liberal leader holding yet another press conference today to tell everyone how much the Labor leader is letting the country down by not having a RC?

Port Arthur had a much higher body count and Lindt Cafe was perpetrated by an ISIS sympathiser.

More News of the World type stuff from the Murdoch Empire. Assholes.

The final 10 minutes of the episode is him revealing "Aha I was a Jew all along!" and people just going "Oh ok"

"But how did you know?"
