Dodgers have apparently already made back the value of that contract.Game 3 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium, was an epic 18 innings game. Took a home run in the bottom of 18th by LA Dodgers Freddie Freeman to separate the sides after no runs were scored after the bottom of 7th innings. LA won 6-5. The game finished just before midnight LA time - 3am Eastern time and game 4 starts just over 17 hours after the winning run was hit.
Equal longest World Series game by innings, at 6 hours 40 minutes the second longest by time, both sides broke the record for runners left on bases in a World Series game, over 600 pitches thrown, one of the relievers for LA threw almost 70 pitches which is what a starting pitcher usually throws, both sides used every pitcher in their listed ball pen - 10 of them, Toronto had several injuries and everyone in the listed squad either batted or pitched, and on and on the landmark stats went.
Toronto will be devastated to lose, but it was an epic effort given how deep into their roster they had to go. They are 1-2 down, with the next 2 games are in LA, and if needed the last 2 games are in Toronto after they hosted the first 2.
Glad I have Kayo and could fast forward and go thru the 7 1/2 hour coverage in about 2 1/2 hours.
Shohei Ohtani is amazing. He hit a double, then a home run, another double and then a home run in the 7th to tie it up at 5 all. The next 4 times he goes to bat, Toronto intentionally walk him and he doesn't face a pitch as they are so scared he will win the game. Then the last time he goes up to bat they pitch at him but its basically 4 deliberate balls - I think he stretched and hit a foul on one pitch that was going to be a ball.
9 times at bat for 9 bases - a new World Series record. His batting average, his on base percentage, his slugging average and his OPS (On base % + slugging average) for the post season all got a healthy boost in tonight's game.
And he is the starting pitcher in game 4.
That $700m contract will be easily paid for if he keeps this up for a few more years.
Revenue maybe, but not profit. Selling $100m of Dogers shirts doesn't net you $100m profit to pay $100m of the contract.Dodgers have apparently already made back the value of that contract.

Behind-the-scenes look at how Dodgers became a hotbed for Japanese talent
"I know that I could go everywhere I wanted to in Japan and never see another scout," Ted Heid, the longtime Mariners Pacific Rim scout who helped the team land Ichiro Suzuki, told MLB.com recently. "It was easy to see somebody who was not Japanese in the crowd behind homewww.mlb.com
Claxton Shield? My dad played baseball for SA in the 70s and 1 game against a Japanese team and they all realised they weren't going to make it further lol
There's a workaround. Just put "reg." in front of the bom.gov.au adress and it will take you to the old site:Imagine the PR dude/dudette trying to spin this. "We consulted widely" - no ya didn't.
"People complained about the old website" - no they didn't, or at least if they did, you're now received 10,000% more negative feedback lol.
It's just amazing how shit the design is. It's like the most generic website template imaginable. It's like you've accidentally landed on one of those AI generated placeholder sites that only exist to register clicks from other bots.
I would say boomers I’d say old moles. There's a workaround. Just put "reg." in front of the bom.gov.au adress and it will take you to the old site:
Australia's official weather forecasts & weather radar - Bureau of Meteorology
Bureau of Meteorology web homepage provides the Australian community with access to weather forecasts, severe weather warnings, observations, flood information, marine and high seas forecasts and climate information. Products include weather charts, satellite photos, radar pictures and climate...reg.bom.gov.au
Fair chance the Fed Gov orders the BOM to revert back officially in coming days given the backlash and the need to keep boomers happy.

Big jump up to 3.2% compared to the June qtr of 2.1%.Lol inflation still a problem. I swear the RBAs data sets are ****ed. Their sampling is so far off reality.
Regardless of what pejorative names we're gonna call them, news reports are saying that a lot of the complaints about the new BOM website are coming from the rural and farming sector for whom getting accurate weather data they can understand and work with is critical.I would say boomers I’d say old moles.
I still think it’s blown out of proportion, I’m no Rhodes scholar (as you would have guessed) and I can understand it easily.Regardless of what pejorative names we're gonna call them, news reports are saying that a lot of the complaints about the new BOM website are coming from the rural and farming sector for whom getting accurate weather data they can understand and work with is critical.
So fixing it matters. Even if it's just a matter of tweaking its interface back to something they were previously comfortable with.
I still think it’s blown out of proportion,
Time to stop those bloody kids with their skateboards on the sidewalk!!I'm sure it is. Most people couldn't really give a stuff about the changes and the majority of those who do have learned to adapt. And from what I've read the revamp wasn't just about the interface but significant upgrades to the type of information that could be accessed by users.
But as a public agency the BOM is in a no win situation. Especially when they made it clear they would listen to public comments about the change and consumer and farmers groups are the most critical voices about the new website. It was gathering steam as a political issue regardless of the validity and that's why, as per GD's link, the Department and its Minister have issued a public apology and have signalled changes.
They've promised to act quickly and hopefully that's the end of it so we can all move on to the next thing to complain about.
