Try Jake forward

I'd give it a go with Jake - maybe on the wing though. We don't really want him shooting for goal do we.

Other things they should experiment with:

Simmonds resting at FF.
Bowden as a swing man playing half a game off the bench - where required, back or forward.
Richo at CHF with a licence to roam wherever he wants.
Tambling in the forward pocket.
An most importantly - Cotchin back in as soon as possible.

I'm pretty sure we already are/have doing/done these things ;)

Just wondering what you guys think about Jake King being used as a forward pocket. Obviously he would have to be tried in this position in the VFL first to see if he can play it but i think it would be worth a shot. For starters we have nothing to lose because he just isn't going to make it as a defender due to his poor disposal and lack of height. He would certainly add some decent forward line pressure as he is an excellent chaser and tackler and he may just have a knack for kickin goals. We will never know if we don't try it. Better than just having him go through the motions in the 2's for the rest of the year.

Tiggyballs...
Thinking outside the box. Original thought. Well done. ;)

Do you think, hyperthetically, that we would be able to keep the ball IN the forward line with Nahas and Kingy bottling it up?

Just a thought...hmmm

And his level is being an above average VFL/country footballer, but not AFL standard.

Yeah, I'm agreeing with that part of it. It's just the nastiness of some posters here directed at a guy who gives his absolute all. I don't like seeing Tiger fans rip into any of our players, but especially when they are just young kids or guys obviously giving everything they've got. What do you want from them? To admit they are not up to it and retire? Blame the selection committee, the recruiters etc not the young bloke working his arse off to make a career for himself.

A little touchy there Ranger:eek:

Sometimes you have to know when trying your best and what is required of you dont meet.

Me, I know I was never more than a country reserves footy player, but I played a few senior games and tried my hardest but I knew I wasn't up to the grade. Does King? It reflects poorly on the rest of the "professional footballers" who rely on him to do his part.

Personally, if I were coach, I'd have a sit down with Kingy and let him know that the club will retain him but his future will most likely consist of Coburg and at best filling in when injury hits.
I would also tell him that on the other hand, the club could delist him but offer him a part time assistant coaching position. He has the mongrel, the attitude and the determination that would be great to rub off on younger players.

That little pip-squeak would kick your arse.

You people suck. Fair enough, it looks like Jake is probably not up to regular AFL football, but there's no need to be so savage. King gets just about everything possible out of himself.

So did Tim Fleming and Billy Nicholls are we not harsh on those two and it wasn't because Tim didn't try!
