When Footy clubs profits for 200 are announced take a look at the result, then write alongside that the number of home games played at docklands. You will find a correlation in thayt the more games at docklands, the worse the result. Essendon are the exception to this.

If Richmond had have played any more games at Colonial, coffers could have turned into coffins.

It is a pity though. The venue itself is very good, even if it isn't perfect.

Must have hit the nail on the head there Pess!

The first 4 responses you've got to this post are all from Tiger supporters!

Coincidence? I think not!

This is a hallucination and these faces are in a dream. A computer generated environment; a fantasy island you can do anything and not have to face the consequences.

Well, we got a 1.6 million dollar profit, AND a 24-1 "on field" win loss ratio, so I'm not complaining either way.

In our annual report, we also have no debt and about 5 million or so in cash reserves, having turned over 20 million dollars this year.

As small as they were, both the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda have been able to post very small profits.

I suppose it is a little ironic that the three co-tenants of the ground have been able to post profits and some of teams who have been scheduled to play a few homes games at the venue have posted large losses.

I do agree Pessimistic, it is totally unfair to those clubs who unwillingly played their home games at the venue in the first place.

In its membership brochure and letter to supporters, the St Kilda Football Club are very confident that most of the problems have been ironed out for next year. In our case, there was no real trouble for our supporters once level 4 was opened up and members were not forced to have an allocated seat.

Call me naive, but I have nothing but praise for the stadium in terms of its view, facilities and atmosphere. For the sake of the bulldogs and saints, let's just hope that the so-called early "teething" problems are rectified.

And Walshy, Pessimistic (and myself) has already had a few words about the Beyond Sport shop at Colonial Stadium. I know of many people who do not realise it is owned by Essendon and have bought their merchandise from here instead of the saints shop. But that is another story.

The figures you have spoken about since the Grand Final just shows how much a premiership would mean to a club struggling financially.

to bomber, saint and bulldogs fans out there i was listening to sports tonight the other day and a bulldog member who has a reserved seat [family membership i think]in the 4th level he just recieved his 2001 membership renewel.he has been forced to move from the 4th level a/c 4th level will be for general admission to another level with a price hike from 230ish to 450ish?
is this true and if it is well i reckon that stinks
cheers!

Tiger of Old,

I am not sure what is going on with the bombers but I do know that the saints and bulldogs are no longer offering reserved seating on level 4.

And personally I think it is a good thing.

I agree that it is an inconvenience for these people next year, however they do get an opportunity to purchase a level 1/2 seat before those members purchasing seats for the first time.

Colonial Stadium will be so much better for both home and away supporters now. There will no longer be long queues in to the ground. Members can immediately head straight up to level 4 without having to worrying about an allocated seat.

And I think the figures you quoted are wrong, at least in the case of St Kilda. We offer gold seats on level 2, obviously for the more wealthy for about $200. Level 1 seats are $137. Yet the saints offer annual reserved seats behind the goals, level 1, for only $65. That is very cheap, even cheaper than some of the reserved seats on level 4 were this season. I don't think the bulldogs offer these cheaper seats.

Fortunately the saints didn't have the amount of reserved seat holders on level 4 that the bulldogs had. Hopefully the transition won't cause any loss of revenue for any of the sides.
