Best 22 or not, Tucky must play. He is the heart and soul of our club, and we owe him a final. To not do so would be an indictment on the culture of our club.

Why stop there? Why not bring back Richo so us fans can send him off in they way he truly deserved.

I think if Tuck is in the best 22 he should play.

But

Absolutely no place for sentiment in finals. Find it difficult to believe that you would put one player ahead of the club in a finals series. Like they have been a dime a dozen for us  Ridiculous

I love tucky in the team as much as most.
Tho after his retirement speech. Dimma got up and spoke, he really didn't sound convincing at all when he was talking about the finals campaign coming up and what role tuck can play in it.
Watching tuck play last night closely to see whether he is a legit chance to play finals (barring injuries, hi Matty white).
My answer would be no. He is the opposite to the tempo one minute, run and gun the next, precise kicking that Dimma has tried to instill. He is still your old school grab and hack player.

"What's this defense thing I keep hearing about" Shane Tuck

And that too.....

I hope he and Newman can both play but at the end of the day, we need to play our best 22 regardless of form, injuries or preferences. There's no second chances in finals (unless you're top 4) so we need to play the game like its our last.

If matty white doesn't get up tucky plays, however white is more important and he plays if he is fit in front of tucky. Hopefully our campaign runs a few weeks so tucky might still get he's chance.

The problem with Tuck is he just kicks long in hope far too often, doesn't lower his eyes enough, in saying that I want to keep him in the team but I don't know how we're gonna fit in Riewoldt, Newman, Edwards and keep White (we must keep White)

Tucky easily gets a game. He joked in his address to the team that he is doing a rain dance...well finals contested footy is essentially the conditions of a regular season game when it is raining. It is a tough battle where just moving the ball towards your goals is huge. Required finals player!

Unfortunately he might just miss out with Newman, Jack, and edwards to come in. But if he is to play, he should start on the ground with either White or Foley as sub as I reckon that gives us better team balance.

Very little room for sentiment at the finals selection table, and what there is goes to Newman rather than Tuck, so Tuck will probably be out.

Let's face it, all year he's been a fringe player, and we've (hopefully) got 3 guys to bring back next week.

Realistically, his only hope is it White is out, and Newman doesn't come up.

When the pressure is really on .. Players like Newman and Tucky stand and deliver.
Finals, one-on-one, contested hard footy .. These two guys thrive on it!

Must play Tucky :thumbsu: ... Finals is in his blood!

Interesting reading on here....

There should be 0 sentiment in picking a finals team. Without question 0 sentiment.

By the same token, if White/Newman are not 100% fit, then they don't play.

I think Tuck would be replaced in our best 22 easily from next season if he hadn't retired. However in the here and now, he is a clearance specialist. This is what we need in a hotly contested final. If the game was played like the 1st half of the bruise free Essendon game then yeah, leave him out.... but it won't be. Therefore Tuck plays for mine and for what it's worth I'd have him in there from the start. Either way he should be in the 22.

Tuck deserved to play, got 15 touches in a half against the Dons. Also played a quarter and a half againstCarlton and got match high clearances and contested possession when no one else on our team was doing anything. Surely that shows that we should have him in against them

I just want to say goodbye Tucky.

Even though when I think of you I will think of a mostly unsuccessful and frustrating 10 year period at the club, I'll still miss you.

He had a reasonable game. Couple of times there he made the wrong decision, but overall, he was pretty good.

Same to see him go, but its for the best.

Sad way for tucky to finish his career, losing to the scum that is Carlton.
We will miss you tucky, really helped the tigers out in some dark times, has been my favourite player since the great Richo retired.
