Kane Tenace isnt playing in the 2's maybe they've decided to rest him in this game as hes had recent injuries as a replacement for shannon. Well heres hoping anyway.

Are you serious????? You are either blind or completely ignorant. Byrnes is SO BAD IT ISN"T EVEN FUNNY ANYMORE! Did anyone else see him tackle Stokesy resulting in him falling to the ground and giving away holding the ball. He has no skills at all, kicking and finishing is woeful at best and he isnt even fast. It is an optical illusion that people believe he is fast due to the fact he has tiny legs and is naturally small. Against Port in our last encounter he was almost caught by Lade whilst running 50 meters.

Tenace, whilst not being overly skilled by foot is at least fast and doesnt tackle his own team mates. Wise decision in from my view.

that seems the likely choice Metalica man, though they're all playing yet Turbo isn't even though he was named on the ground. Maybe there is something in this strange selection??

You obviously don't know what a mistake is.

Oh, what's that? Milburn tackling Wojcinski? Let's drop Milburn, NOW!!!

I do understand what a mistake is, and the whole Milburn issue is completely irrelevant as he is sewn into the structure of the team, has a role he carries out well, can dispose of the ball well, and has something between his ears.
Look i have nothing against Shannon, though he is the weakest link in the team and makes stupid mistakes such as tackling his own player as well as kicking mistakes ALL THE TIME. It comes down to whether you are going to allow this hazard to play in the granny or cut your losses. I see Byrnes out, Tenace in as doing just that.

It's not irrelevant, I made my point that anyone can make the mistake of tackling a teammate.

FTW - Would you still like Byrnes if he looked like Ling? Come on be honest ;)
I don't think Shannon is very hot, so yes, I would still like him if he looked like Ling.

HOW??????? he is by far the worst player on our team and watching the VFL today has confirmed he doesn't deserve to be out there. Btw im not saying that no one makes mistakes, im saying Shannon Byrnes makes more mistakes than everyone else and was using the tackle plus pretty much every single posession on Friday night as an example.

Tenace has been out injured for about 8 weeks. He obviously isn't fit, which is why he's not playing today.

I don't think that Byrnes is as bad as you make him out to be, but I do agree that he makes too many bad decisions and skill errors, therefore I would suggest replacing him with Varcoe.

However the argument to counter this is that Byrnes has a bigger engine and can better run out a game than Varcoe, which my prove pivotal in a Grand Final (especially if Geelong can dictate terms and make it fast and free-running).

It's a tough one but I'd go with Varcoe because of his superb pressuring ability.

Absolutely not Tenace, he can go to another club next year.

Tenace is better than Byrnes, I don't understand how you can tollerate Shannon Byrnes, keeping him and worse still playing him will come back to haunt us.

It is imperative that we get Varcoe on the park for the AFL Grand Final. His defensive pressure is sorely needed even though he dosen't find enough of the ball according to some folk round here.

Prismall, maybe. King, yeah I'd include Kingy. It's unfortunate for Blake I know (someone mentioned the unfortunate Derek Kickett in another post and, yeah I know. You'd be gutted by that kind of decision after putting in for the team all year. Especially if it didn't pay off...) but sadly I think we need to be realistic about this.

So, for me at this stage it's IN: Varcoe, King OUT: Byrnes, Blake

"Talent" and "Byrnes" are 2 words that should never be used in the same sentence. Kane had potential. Shannon is just plain rubbish.

Like it or not Kane & Shannon are much the same, they were drafted for their pace and they can't kick.
I'd prefer Shannon because now is not the time to stuff around with things and bringing in someone who can't even play a VFL game because of injury is just asking for trouble.

Honey, i never said to bring Kane back in. I'd be happy if neither of them represented our club again. But seriously, if you think Shannon has one ounce of talent in his body, you are deluded.

Byrnes finds more of the ball then Varcoe but Varcoe applies more pressure and has the special x factor of being able to create space out fo nothing. He may be able to work a bit of magic, which I can't see in Byrnes. Byrnes seems to be stuck between a midfielder and a forward pocket. He doesn't have the decision making skills or strength to be a midfielder yet he doesn't have the excitement or roving abilities of a forward pocket. Maybe put Varcoe in he was but i trust Mark Thompson decision
