Was listening to the radio this morning with Wirra as a guest. When asked do you think booing will have any effect on Judd he answered no straight away.

He was then asked, "What if the crowd turned their back on him when he ran out onto the field?"

Wirra seemed a bit taken aback that someone would do this to a footballer, but then said Yeah, I think that would work, footballers like to be watched so that could worry Judd.

We have heard the idea before, but no-one ever really favoured it over the good old fashioned booing. I think we should all give it a try though. If a couple of people in each section of the crowd stood and turned their backs on him as Carlton ran out it would soon catch on.

Its symbolic as most of us feel he turned his back on the club when we needed him most, we should show him how it feels.

short reply...get ____ed! amazing how 40,000 stood and cheered the man who brought the club to its knees but can't stand looking at our premiership captain.

some truly ____ed up thinking among Eagles supporters.

I'll watch on and like Cox said this morning on 6PR, why not just watch how the guy goes about his footy.

that's about the size of it...we should be thankful for the 7 years of fine service he gave us, I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been at the 2006 Grand Final, watching him in SA at the prelim the week before when weaving his left hand bounce magic and every other weekend in Perth in my usual seat.

I'm not greedy...I'm thankful that we had him, 14 other clubs will NEVER experience what we did when we had Judd playing for us.

Whoever is going tomorrow night just cheer and yell like mad for our boys

yep...and I reckon if we stood up and turned our backs the people behind who want to watch would soon give us a punch in the face or tell us to sit the ____ down! :p

did you cheer on the man who brought the club to its knees last year when he returned?

I dont think turning your back to him is a good idea. As with the 'boo/clap/neither' thread, i say do nothing. Silence is golden, but don't forget to cheer our blokes!

Whilst most would agree the way he left us has left us a touch dissapointed, let's not forget he gave us some great times as supporters, who knows if we would have got that flag if he wasn't there.

No way i would do anything negative towards him, in saying that i wouldn't applaud him either before or during the game, he's the opposistion now, after the game i wouldn't be adverse to applauding him though as a way of thanking him for the great times he provided us during his time at the Eagles.

Ridiculous idea.

Agreed. You would be a disgraceful WCE supporter if you did something like that. It would mean that you are stooping down to the level of a Freo supporters (i.e. booing of their own team on home soil).

Judd has been part of our club for a long time; don't ever forget his efforts to take our club to a 3rd premiership.

All in all, he is STILL and always will be a superstar. I will continue to watch Judd play (as well as Buddy, J. Brown etc) because I appreciate footy for footy. You will not hear boos from me on Friday nite

Well that went down like a lead balloon didn't it!
Just relaying the suggestion, that is all. I thought it was better than the normal booing but that will get the message across I guess. And dont be so nieve as to think the crowd wont boo him, it will.

It was actually just supposed to be a one off as the Carlton team ran onto the ground if you read the original post, I dont know about you, but I dont usually care what the other team is doing as they run out, certainly wouldn't care if people stood up in front of me.
did you cheer on the man who brought the club to its knees last year when he returned?
I hadn't planned to before hand, but I must admit I did get caught up in the moment on the night.

In the crowds defense, we were all still hoping for the fairytale return for Ben at that stage, most of us still hope he can make it back (just not with us). I really dont know what it has to do with Judds return though?

I understand the idea of it. Every supporter is entitled to reacted the way they want to (barring abuse and throwing stuff).

However, I'm over both former captains, grateful for the service both gave to the club, wish both the best.

But that was a public relations concern. Most don't feel his private life should matter and disagreed with the decision.

Judd abandoned the club as captain in it's darkest hour and made it impossible to deal with other sides.

One showed loyalty but with a troubled personal life. The other was squeaky clean but abandoned us on the field.

I couldn't care less about someone's personal life, I only care what happens on the field.

you don't see the hypocrisy? cheer on the guy who royally ____ed us but boo the out of contract guy who made a decision we all knew would come one day...

Most don't feel his private life should matter and disagreed with the decision.

lol..and there we have the double standard at its finest, Cousins private life shouldn't matter but Judd's personal reasons for leaving should be used against him...really makes me wonder!

Judd abandoned the club as captain in it's darkest hour and made it impossible to deal with other sides.

your shitting me? he was out of contract, we'd been in 2 grandfinals and 6 final series and finished 3rd on the ladder last year and your saying its our darkest hour...on the one hand you say that Cousins private life shouldn't matter..yet it was his private life that royally ____ed us, then on the other you say Judd's decision for whatever private reasons should matter and that he abandoned us...interesting logic.

can't have it both ways!

Are you illiterate or stupid?

I never mentioned once anything about Judd's personal life. I don't care what his reasons were for leaving. All I care about is that he did.

you didn't have to...your intimating that he put his private wishes ahead of the club.

When West Coast supporters cheered on Ben, he hadn't, at that stage, "royally ___ed us" as you put it. Most of us understand that his is a health issue and one that he is struggling to overcome.

The crowd was trying to show him that we were behind him, not that we agreed with the position he had got himself into. He was still apart of our team and as supporters we were supporting him.

I seriously doubt he would get the same reception now.

Judd on the other hand is no longer our captain nor any part of the team we choose to support. He is Carltons captain now, and I have never cheered on another clubs captain in my life (unless it somehow benefits West Coast ;)).

I think you are getting a bit too caught up in your sermon, its football. We are supposed to cheer our team and boo the other team, that is how it works.

Spot on.

Judd is the enemy on the field, and its quite soft to see you guys being all nice & proper about his return. Radio commentators (Kevin Bartlett) & callers here in Melbourne are saying that if it were their club they would fully expect the player to be booed & abused. That's what one eyed supporters do, that's that passionate supporters do.

I have respect for Judd as a player & he will forever be remembered as one of the greatest eagles players ever. But he is now a Carlton player and deserves whatever he cops from us.

Juddism,

A lot of people love both players. In hindsight, supporters shouldn't have cheer number 9's return but they believe in the fairytale. Regarding Judd, supporters should have recognise that he was going to leave but they believe in the fairy tale of him staying.

Why, the double standard?

A) The bitterness of the Carlton Deal (some supporters believe we didn't get Judd's value)

B) People honestly thought the captaincy and a general love for the club would result him in staying.

C) Cousins is a disaster and has a health issue that in the end could destroy his life.

I could go on..but everyone heard the same stuff over and over again.

Judd was great for the club but I would be surprise if he ever consider it 'his club'. Yes, we were lucky to have him, it just shame the time which he left.

Again, every West Coast supporter is entitle to react the way they want. I very much doubt boo/clapping/ turning backs on him will affected him at all.

Wow so many different views, I tell you now I will be booing him thats for sure he turned his back on our club when we needed him the most for me he looses all creditability as a great captain , Premiership player wouldn't do that.

I would have been happy for Judd to go home to mummy after another 2 year deal as he would have still given a Victorian club a good 6 years service.

well its a divisive issue I think we call all agree on that...I won't be cheering him, I just hope its a decent game and we come away with 4 points. I just don't think that booing or turning backs on him will do anything other than spur him on.

I would have been happy for Judd to go home to mummy after another 2 year deal as he would have still given a Victorian club a good 6 years service.

yea...but using the drug issue and the problems that the club has had for the last 18 months is manipulation, do you really think we'd be getting 110% from Judd if we manipulated him into staying under those circumstances? we sent Cousins off to rehab with the view he'd come back cleaned up and hoped like hell Judd would stay, in the end Cousins ____ed up again and Judd had already decided enough was enough before that.

A) The bitterness of the Carlton Deal (some supporters believe we didn't get Judd's value)

I reckon we faired better..we got the very best out of Judd at the right time.

B) People honestly thought the captaincy and a general love for the club would result him in staying.

you see that's where we differ, I never thought that, I also had in the back of my mind that he always wanted to return and finish his career in Victoria..that was made perfectly clear!

C) Cousins is a disaster and has a health issue that in the end could destroy his life.

yes...but it also damaged the club, now all we ever hear is how the 2006 premiership was tainted. Fletcher needs including in that mix too.

I think its soft too. Geez you should hear the Collingwood supporters booing Lloyd everytime he gets the ball, and he never even played for their club!

No wonder others think we are chardonay sippers, where is the passion for our team?

Lets all sit around and fairy clap the captain that walked out on us just as the shit hit the fan. Yay Juddy!!!!
