Unless Bluey comes back Turnbull and Roo will be on our veterans list next year. They will be the only ones eligible if Tommy retires.
With a list reduced by three we cannot afford to give up a list place. Turnbull will have to be there just in case of an injury pile up.

I don't think he should be kept, regardless of the veterans rule. This year he started behind Gardiner and Sierakowski as our 3rd ruckman, next year he'll be behind Gardiner, Cox, Sierakowski with the possibility of McDougall also playing in the ruck. That makes him our 5th ruckman, we don't need him.

Also, he hasn't showed much in the 3 matches he's played this year. Wooden knew his ass was on the line, so he lifted his performances, last year Donnelly did the same. But Turnball is playing as if he has already given up. We don't need that sort of attitude at the club when we have so many youngsters coming up.

Even if he was to lift his game for the remainder of the season i would still want him delisted. We have no room on our list for aging 4th tier players who come into an injury depleted side and still look like they don't belong in the team.

Tough call Frodo - I don't think we ever saw the best of Ryan Turnball and although he has played some fantastic games with East Perth over the years (and this year too) I don't think he has anything outstanding to offer the Eagles this year & next. I don't see it as a bad thing if Kemp, Matera, Turnball and Donnelly all retire at the end of the year (although I reckon Matera will stay on for 1 more year), because we can blood in some more players to the side/or get rid of some players and keep the crop we've got.

For a player who has been at a club for 10 odd years, he really hasn't achieved much. Especially considering he was our #1 ruckman through the 90's. No awards, no achievements, nothing. He will not be missed when he retires(cruel but true).:(

I hope the eagles give him life membership despite not having played the mandatory 150 games, he has been unlucky not to have reached the milestone.

I'm still not sure what the veteran rule is - see Frodo & my & other posts on the main board in the last day or so.

The aim should be to transition high salary players to the veterans list once eligible (Kemp, Matera, Jakovich & McIntosh in that order).

I suspect that Ryan Turnbull will be delisted anyway - I wouldn't have thought he's on a very high base salary and with (unrealistically small) AFL lists, a place is too precious.

All the best to him - a durable career and a very important medal around 1994!

I dont mind if he stay or goes. I not sure what we will use him for though if Seira comes back with Cox and Gardiner and possibly McDougall too. But if we keep him, im happy, if we dont im still happy. By the way does anyone know how many games he has played?? He must be close to life membership.
