Interesting that they've included the sponsor in the ground name (Mission Whitten oval). Usually the ABC trips over itself to avoid referring to stadia by anything other than their generic name.

Heh, I didn't pick up on that. Will be gone by the next round if it gets brought up!

These feel like the old 7 graphics but different fonts etc especially the one showing the full score breakdown at quarter time

They should have done an upgrded version of this for the start of the season (atleast) for the nostalgia also its so off putting seeing the scorebug top left now 😂

Twas a simpler time. It’s all we needed wasn’t it? We all know who the teams are GEE, GWS, GC, HAW etc. or just a little logo. It’s all too big and americanised imo.

Fox Footy seemingly no longer allowed to have any sort of branding for non-exclusive matches.
First half hour had Fox/SSL branding, as soon as they came back at 4pm, this showed up.

There's a "world window" in sports production where all content must be suitable for the world feed after a certain time. However the Fox feed can still carry Fox branding after this time. This might have been a videotape item where only 1 version could run, so it has to carry the generic branding.

Not disputing that, but last year they were able to have SSL & Sunday Ticket branding during their matches, as long as they didn't show Fox or Fox Footy during the main coverage. Seems that's no longer the case; although it's in the bottom-left corner on Fox, it's covered by that fake AFL logo on Ch 7 & AFL website.
Also, Fox bringing back the triangle logo on the boundary desk for WCE v SYD.

But why would channel 7 then use there channel 7 branding when they are the world feed?

Yep something's changed this year. Maybe the desk got used partly out of the world window and partly in? Notice there are Fox logos on the microphones.

Networks can send different feeds with different branding. Both Fox and 7 have local feeds with their branding, and world feeds with different branding. It depends on what the rules are around the feed they're providing. For example 7 provides a feed to Fox with no branding at all on Thursdays and Fridays.

Yes, that's exactly what happened. Then after the break must have been the beginning of the Ch 7/world feed because they swapped to 'AFL' mics. Just a bit odd they've made a point of using a new generic logo (bootleg AFL) while still hanging onto the old one (the triangle).

Last year, when showing a replay, 7’s broadcast had it flashing ‘7+’ while the AFL replay had it being the ‘AFL’ logo. However this year even the AFL replay has the ‘7+’ flashing.

Either 7 is putting its logo out on the world feed, or the AFL is using 7's local feed

Last 1:09 of the GEE V WCE game, Fox went to the AFL/World feed as they got ready to head to the GWS V RIC game
